Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway


PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. The public highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. The main highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Nelson-Westport State Highway.

  3. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.


SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 11

NELSON-WESTPORT: All those roads or streets or portions thereof in the City of Nelson commencing at the Nelson Post Office and proceeding thence in a westerly direction via Halifax Street, Haven Road, Wakefield Quay, Rocks Road, Main Road Tahunanui, Main Road Annesbrook, and Main Road Stoke, and terminating at the southern boundary of the City of Nelson at the north-east corner of Lot 1, D.P. 3412, part Section 54, Block VII, Waimea Survey District, being a distance of 5 miles 72 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156049 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

INANGAHUA JUNCTION-GREYMOUTH: All those portions of public street in the Borough of Greymouth commencing at the Greymouth Borough boundary opposite the easternmost corner of Section 7B of Maori Reserve No. 31, and proceeding thence in a north-westerly and westerly direction along the Omoto Road and Mawhera Quay to the Mawhera Quay junction with Tainui Street; thence in a southerly direction along Tainui Street and terminating at its junction with Guinness Street opposite the south-eastern corner of Section 10 of Maori Reserve No. 31, being a distance of 1 mile 6 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155894 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

GREYMOUTH-WAIHO: All those portions of public street in the Borough of Greymouth commencing opposite the south-eastern corner of Section 10 of Maori Reserve No. 31, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly and south-westerly direction along Tainui Street, High Street, and Paroa Road and terminating at the Borough boundary opposite the south-western side of the Town Belt South, being a distance of 2 miles 68 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155895 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Revoking Designation of State Highway: Revoking Declaration of Main Highway: Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway


PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. The main highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be designated State highway.

  2. (1) The public highway described in the First and Second Schedules hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The Order in Council made on 2 October 1940, declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in the First and Second Schedules hereto to be main highway, hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.

  1. The public highway described in the Third Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. The main highway described in the Third Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Picton-Christchurch State Highway.

  3. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.


FIRST SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 14

PICTON-CHRISTCHURCH: All that highway or portion of highway in Waimairi County, Blocks III and VII, Christchurch Survey District, declared as the Picton-Christchurch State Highway, commencing at the northern boundary of Waimairi County on the Waimakariri River Bridge and proceeding generally in a southerly and south-westerly direction along main North Road via Belfast and terminating at the Christchurch City boundary approximately 3 chains north of Winters Road, being a distance of 5 miles 64 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 157031 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.


SECOND SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 14

CHRISTCHURCH - NORTHERN ACCESS (TUTTONS ROAD) MAIN HIGHWAY: All that highway or portion of highway in the County of Waimairi in Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, commencing at the boundary of Christchurch City and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along Cranford Street to terminate at the boundary of Christchurch City being a distance of 59 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 157031 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
