Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

Pursuant to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

1. The public highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

2. The main highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Masterton-Wellington State Highway.

3. This notice shall come into force on the date after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT NO. 9B

MASTERTON-WELLINGTON: All that public highway in the Borough of Upper Hutt commencing at the north boundary of the said Borough at a point 7 chains north of Henry Street and Main Street junction and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via the Main Hutt Road and terminating on the south-western boundary of the said Borough at a point 5 chains north of Whitemans Valley Road and Main Hutt Road junction, being a distance of 4 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155765 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

WESTERN HUTT: All that public highway in the City of Lower Hutt commencing on the western boundary of the said City at a point 18 chains north of Melling Road and Western Hutt Road junction and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Western Hutt Road and terminating at the south boundary of the said City at a point 8 chains south of Scales Lane junction, being a distance of 2 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155765 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Also all that public highway in the Borough of Petone commencing at the north boundary of the said borough at a point 8 chains south of Scales Lane and Western Hutt Road junction and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Western Hutt Road and McKenzie Street and terminating at the south boundary of the said borough at a point 5 chains south of the Esplanade and McKenzie Street junction, being a distance of 1 mile 22 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155765 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
