Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
-
The public highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
-
The main highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Whangarei-Awanui State Highway.
-
This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 1
WHANGAREI-AWANUI: All that portion of highway, situated within the Borough of Whangarei, commencing at a point in line with the Chief Post Office and proceeding in a northerly direction along Bank Street and Kamo Road and terminating at the boundary between the Borough of Whangarei and Kamo Town District, Block XII, Purua Survey District, and Block IX, Whangarei Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 24 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156029 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

WHANGAREI-DARGAVILLE: All that portion of public highway, situated within the Borough of Whangarei, commencing at the junction of Maunu Road and Otaika Road and proceeding in a westerly direction along Maunu Road and terminating at the boundary between Whangarei Borough and Whangarei County, Block XII, Purua Survey District, being a distance of 52 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156030 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

WHANGAREI-MAUNGATUROTO: All that portion of highway, situated within the Borough of Whangarei, commencing at a point in line with the Chief Post Office and proceeding in a south-westerly and southerly direction via Maunu Road and Otaika Road and terminating at the boundary between Whangarei Borough and Whangarei County, Block XII, Purua Survey District, being a distance of 1 mile 60 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156031 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Revoking Main Highway: Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway State Highway
———
PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
- (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.
(2) The Order in Council made on 16 December 1935,* and declaring (inter alia) the portion of public highway described thereto to be main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portion of public highway.

The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
-
The main highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Auckland-Hamilton State Highway.
-
This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

ALL that public highway in the Borough of Newmarket declared as Great South Road M.H. 880 in Gazette No. 96 of 19 December 1935.

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 2A
AUCKLAND-HAMILTON: All that public highway in the City of Auckland commencing at a point in Symonds Street adjacent to the southern side of the intersection of Karangahape Road, Symond Street, and Grafton Bridge, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly and south-easterly direction along Symonds Street and portion of Khyber Pass Road to the Auckland City boundary; thence through the Borough of Newmarket along the other portion of Kyber Pass Road and Broadway to the southern boundary of the Borough of Newmarket near the junction of Broadway and Mortimer Pass Road, re-entering the City of Auckland along the other portion of Broadway; thence through the Borough of One Tree Hill along the Great South Road and terminating at its junction with the south-eastern side of Waiohua Road, being a distance of 4 miles 5 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155907 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured sepia.
