Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 10th day of September 1958

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori Reservation for the common use and benefit of the members of the Ngati Ngararanui, Ngati Tamahika, and Ngati Tuteaiti tribes as a meeting place.

Conferring Jurisdiction on the Maori Land Court

At the Government House at Wellington this 10th day of September 1958

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 31 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby confers upon the Maori Land Court jurisdiction to hear and determine an application by the executor of the estate of Renata Haurangi Ngata, deceased, for the determination of the beneficial ownership of the livestock depasturing on the land known as Waitakaro Station at the date of the death of the said Renata Haurangi Ngata and referred to in his will.

Onehunga Post-primary School Board of Governors Order 1958

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 90 of the Education Act 1914, as amended by section 10 of the Education Amendment Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. This order may be cited as the Onehunga Post-primary School Board of Governors Order 1958.

  2. The constitution of the Board of Governors of the Onehunga Post-primary School, prescribed by section 90 of the Education Act 1914, is hereby varied so that the school shall be controlled by a Board of Governors constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Auckland Education Board:

(b) Four members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school:

(c) One member appointed by the Governor-General:

(d) One member appointed by the Onehunga Borough Council:

(e) Three members, of whom at least one shall be a woman, elected by the members of the school committees of the Manukau Intermediate School, the Onehunga Public School, the Oranga Public School, the Royal Oak Public School, and the Te Papapa Public School:

(f) One member co-opted by the Board of Governors itself, if and when it thinks fit:

Provided that, until the school is opened and the election of members by the parents of the pupils attending the school is held, the school shall be controlled by a Board consisting of the other members to be appointed and elected as aforesaid and the member (if any) co-opted as aforesaid.

  1. The Minister of Education may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, amend the list of schools to which paragraph (e) of clause 2 of this order applies.

The Western and Northern Sides of Portion of St. David Street and the Southern Side of Portion of Halkett Street, in the City of Christchurch, Exempted from the Provisions of Section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928

At the Government House at Wellington this 17th day of September 1958

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby approves of the resolution passed by the Christchurch City Council on the 28th day of June 1958, and set out in the First Schedule hereto, in so far as it affects the sides and portions of streets described in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

THE Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Christchurch, by resolution declares that the provisions of section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928 shall not apply to the western and northern sides of the portion of St. David Street adjoining part Town Reserves 116 and 137, part being Lots 4, 5, and 6, D.P. 1723, being all the land in certificates of title, Volume 225, folio 61, and Volume 463, folio 159; and the southern side of portion of Halkett Street adjoining part Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 12549, part Town Reserve 136, being part certificate of title, Volume 486, folio 36, Canterbury Registry.

SECOND SCHEDULE

THE western and northern sides of all that portion of street in the Canterbury Land District, situated in the City of Christchurch, known as St. David Street, fronting part Town Reserves 116 and 137, part being Lots 4, 5, and 6, D.P. 1723.

Also the southern side of all that portion of street in the Canterbury Land District, situated in the City of Christchurch, known as Halkett Street, fronting Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 12549, being part Town Reserve 136.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 157018 deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

PURSUANT to section 149 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the Matamata County Council stopping the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto.
