Limited Speed Zone Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

The portion of road specified in the Schedule to this notice is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.*

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waitemata County—

That portion of the Birkenhead-Maungaturoto State Highway No. 5 from the southern boundary of Waitemata County to a point four chains north of Roberts Road.

  1. That Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 dated the 23rd day of August 1955* which relates to part of the Blenheim-Nelson State Highway No. 52 at Woodbourne in Marlborough County is hereby revoked.

  2. The portion of road specified in the Schedule to this notice is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Marlborough County—

That portion of the Blenheim-Nelson State Highway No. 52 adjacent to Woodbourne Aerodrome from a point 20 chains west of its junction with Grahams Cross Road to a point 44 chains west of the said junction.

Notification of Exemption from Renters’ Quota Under the Cinematograph Films Act 1928

PURSUANT to section 29 of the Cinematograph Films Act 1928, it is hereby notified that exemption has been granted to each of the following named renters in respect of the film renting season for the year 1956–57 from the provision of the aforesaid Act, which requires every licensed renter to acquire a stated proportion of Commonwealth films:

Fixing Date on Which Certain Returns Under the Fire Services Act 1949 are to be Furnished

PURSUANT to section 52 of the Fire Services Act 1949, it is hereby notified that the returns required by that section (as amended by the Fire Services Amendment Acts 1953 and 1956) showing the amount of premiums received by or due to fire insurance companies during the year ended 31 December 1957, shall be transmitted to the Fire Service Council in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 28th day of February 1958.

Bylaw Regulating Heavy Traffic on the Waikaremoana-Rotorua State Highway (Lake House-Mataatua Road Junction Section)

PURSUANT to section 13 of the National Roads Act 1953 and section 54 of the Transport Act 1949, the National Roads Board hereby makes the following bylaw:

BYLAW

  1. This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1957, No. 1.

  2. This bylaw shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  3. In this bylaw, unless the context otherwise requires, words and phrases shall have the same meanings as are assigned to them in the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955.

  4. This bylaw shall apply to that section of the Waikaremoana-Rotorua State Highway No. 47 between Lake House, Waikaremoana, and the junction of the Mataatua Road with the State Highway, approximately 40 chains on the Lake House side of Ruatahuna.

  5. No person shall, during any of the months April to December (inclusive) in any year, drive or take or operate or permit to be driven or taken or operated any heavy vehicle on, along, or over the said section of highway if:

(a) The vehicle has more than two axles; or

(b) The portion of the weight of the vehicle on any one axle exceeds 5 tons; or

(c) The vehicle together with its load exceeds a total length of 30 ft.; or

(d) The vehicle is drawing a trailer.

  1. No person shall during the months of January to March (inclusive) in any year drive or take or operate or permit to be driven or taken or operated any heavy motor vehicle on, along, or over the said section of highway if:

(a) The vehicle has more than two axles; or

(b) The portion of the weight of the vehicle on any one axle exceeds 6½ tons; or

(c) The vehicle together with its load exceeds a total length of 35 ft.; or

(d) The vehicle is drawing a trailer.

  1. The bylaws made by the Main Highways Board on the 21st day of February 1951* regulating heavy traffic on the Waikaremoana-Rotorua State Highway (Lake House-Mataatua Road Junction Section) are hereby revoked.

This by-law was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 17th day of October 1957.
