Boundaries of County of Waimea and City of Nelson Altered

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council
Pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

1. That, as on and from the 1st day of April 1958, the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Waimea and included in the City of Nelson.
2. That, as on and from the date aforesaid, the two members of the Waimea County Council who represent the Stoke Riding of the County of Waimea on that Council shall be councillors of the Nelson City Council until the councillors elected at the next triennial general election of councillors of that City Council come into office.
3. That, as on and from the date aforesaid, the number of members of the Waimea County Council to represent the Stoke Riding of the County of Waimea on that Council shall be reduced to one and an extraordinary vacancy shall be deemed to exist on that date in the office of councillor to represent that riding.
4. That, subject as otherwise provided herein, the alteration of boundaries of the said county and the said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.
