Boundaries of County of Waimea and City of Nelson Altered

At the Government House at Wellington this 12th day of February 1958
Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council
Pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:
- That, as on and from the 1st day of April 1958, the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Waimea and included in the City of Nelson.
- That, as on and from the date aforesaid, the two members of the Waimea County Council who represent the Stoke Riding of the County of Waimea on that Council shall be councillors of the Nelson City Council until the councillors elected at the next triennial general election of councillors of that City Council come into office.
- That, as on and from the date aforesaid, the number of members of the Waimea County Council to represent the Stoke Riding of the County of Waimea on that Council shall be reduced to one and an extraordinary vacancy shall be deemed to exist on that date in the office of councillor to represent that riding.
- That, subject as otherwise provided herein, the alteration of boundaries of the said county and the said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

Area Excluded from County of Waimea and Included in City of Nelson
All that area in the Nelson Land District containing 2,755 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the northernmost corner of part Section 7, Suburban South District, with the south-western boundary of Section 21, Block D, Wakatu District, being a point on the boundary of the City of Nelson, as described in Gazette of 31 August 1950, pages 1651 to 1652; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of the aforesaid part Section 7, to and across a public road, again along the north-western boundary of the aforesaid part Section 7, the north-western boundary of a closed road and again along the north-western boundary of the aforesaid part Section 7; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 210; thence south-westerly generally along the north-western boundary of the said Lot 1 and the north-western boundaries of Lots 2, 3, 4, and 5, Deposited Plan 210, the north-western and south-western boundaries of Lot 7, Deposited Plan 210, to a point in line with the production of the north-western boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 2812, across Enner Glynn Road to and along the aforesaid north-western boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 2812, and the north-western boundary of Lot 3, Deposited Plan 3300; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 5, Deposited Plan 3300; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of the said Lot 5 to its western-most corner; thence north-westerly along a right line to the north-western boundary of Lot 4, Deposited Plan 3300, being the intersection of Lots 10 and 12, Deposited Plan 4881; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of Lot 4, Deposited Plan 3300, and Lot 3, Deposited Plan 315; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Lots 3, 4, and 5, Deposited Plan 315; thence south-westerly across Marsden Valley Road to and along the north-western boundary of Mental Hospital Reserve, being part Sections 39 and 40, Suburban South District; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of Songer Street to a point in line with the production of the north-western boundary of Mental Hospital Reserve, being Section XVI, Suburban South District; thence south-westerly across Songer Street to and along the aforesaid north-western boundary of Section XVI and Mental Hospital Reserve being parts Section 66, Suburban South District; across Polstead Road to and along the north-western boundaries of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 5276, and part Lot 2, Deposited Plan 635, to a point in line with the production of the north-eastern boundary of part Section 54, Suburban South District, comprised in certificate of title, Volume 59, folio 269, Nelson Registry; thence north-westerly across Suffolk Road to and along the aforesaid north-eastern boundary of part Section 54, the north-eastern boundary of part Section 54, Suburban South District, comprised in certificate of title, Volume 59, folio 270, Nelson Registry, the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 3412, and that boundary produced across the Nelson-Westport State Highway; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of the aforesaid highway; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of part Section 60, Suburban South District, comprised in certificate of title, Volume 32, folio 83, Nelson Registry; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of railway reserve (formerly Nelson-Glenhope Railway) to a point in line with the production of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 2, Deposited Plan 1928; thence north-westerly across the aforesaid railway reserve to and along the aforesaid north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 2298, and that boundary produced to the middle line of Nayland Road; thence north-easterly along the aforesaid middle line of Nayland Road to a point in line with the production of the north-eastern boundary of part Section 76, Suburban South District, comprised in certificate of title, Volume 59, folio 183, Nelson Registry; thence north-westerly across Nayland Road to and along the aforesaid north-eastern boundary of part Section 76 to its northernmost corner; thence south-westerly along a right line across Waimea Inlet to Pine XII on the southern side of Point Road as shown on Deposited Plan 1689; thence north-westerly along a right line, bearing 299° 12', distance 657·9 links, to O.P. Xlill, shown on the aforesaid Deposited Plan 1689; thence north-easterly along a right line, bearing 6°, distance 4,400 links, to the sea coast of Tasman Bay; thence north-easterly generally along the sea coast to its intersection with the south-western boundary of part Section 85, Suburban South District, being a point on the south-western boundary of the City of Nelson, as described in Gazette of 31 August 1950, pages 1651 to 1652; thence south-easterly, north-easterly, again south-easterly, south-westerly, north-easterly, and again south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the City of Nelson as described aforesaid, to the point of commencement.

Pursuant to section 17 of the Tenancy Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the public work described in the Schedule hereto to be a work of importance and urgency.

The erection of a building in Cambridge Terrace, Wellington, to be known as the Courtenay Place Automatic Telephone Exchange Building.
