Declaring Land in a Roadway Laid out in Block XI, Opotiki Survey District, Opotiki County, to be Road

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 421 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrow-clough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto, and comprised in a roadway laid out by the Maori Land Court by an order dated the 19th day of November 1952, to be road.

SCHEDULE

All that piece of land in the Gisborne Land District containing 2 roods 31.8 perches, situated in Block XI, Opotiki Survey District, Gisborne R.D., and being part Allotment 337B, Parish of Waioeka; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 153670 (S.O. 4790) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 4th day of September 1957.

Declaring Certain Restrictions as to the Use of Boats in Wildlife Refuges in the West Coast Acclimatisation District

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929, Volume I, page 445, relating to the Hobson Acclimatisation District, notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22 to the extent appearing in the First Schedule hereto; and I hereby proclaim and declare, in relation to the Proclamation published in Gazette, 16 May 1957, No. 38, page 825, declaring an area of land in the West Coast Acclimatisation District, to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of that Act, that the use of boats is prohibited in that area.

Amending Declaration of Land, Nelson Acclimatisation District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929, Volume I, page 445, notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22, in so far as that Warrant relates to the Nelson Acclimatisation District; and hereby proclaim and declare the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be wildlife refuges for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

Gouland Downs, in the County of Golden Bay, Nelson Land District: All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing 22,950 acres, more or less, comprising State forest, situated in Blocks XI, XV, and XVI, Wakamarama Survey District, Block XIII, Aorere Survey District, Block I, Waingaro Survey District, and Blocks IV and VIII, Gouland Survey District; Gouland Downs Scenic Reserve, being Sections 2, Block XIV, 2, Block XV, and 1, Block XVI, all in Wakamarama Survey District, and Sections 1, Block II, 1, Block III, 1, Block IV, and 1, Block VIII, all in Gouland Survey District; and Stock Reserve, being Section 3, Block XV, Wakamarama Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at Trig. Station N (Gorton Downs), being the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XV, Wakamarama Survey District; thence by a right line to a point in Block XIII, Aorere Survey District, 200 chains due east from Mount Perry; thence by a right line to a point in Block VIII, Gouland Survey District, 50 chains due east from Trig. Station G (Mount Gouland); thence by a right line from the last-mentioned point to the said Trig. Station G (Mount Gouland); thence by the summit of the Tasman Mountains to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block XIV, Wakamarama Survey District; thence by the northern boundary of the foresaid Section 2 and by the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block XV, Wakamarama Survey District, to the point of commencement; excepting from the land included within the above-described boundaries a road 1 chain wide covering the Collingwood Heaphy Track.

As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked I.A. 52/290 deposited in the Head Office, Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Lake Matiri and surrounding land, in the County of Murchison, Nelson Land District: All that area in the Nelson Land District, Murchison County, situated in Blocks I, II, V, and VI, Matiri Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1,305 acres, more or less, and known as Lake Matiri, and the area of State forest included in a line running parallel to and 40 chains from the shores of that lake.

As the same is more particularly delineated on a plan marked I.A. 52/211 deposited in the Head Office, Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Amending Declaration of Land, Hobson Acclimatisation District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929, Volume I, page 445, relating to the Hobson Acclimatisation District, notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22 to the extent appearing in the First Schedule hereto; and I hereby proclaim and declare the area described in the Second Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge in the Hobson Acclimatisation District for the purpose of the Wildlife Act 1953.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREA REVOKED AS A SANCTUARY UNDER THE ANIMALS PROTECTION AND GAME ACT 1921-22

A certain area at Pouto Point: All that area in the Auckland Land District, being the Crown lands formerly known as Pouto No. 2D, Subdivision No. 10A of Pouto No. 2E, and part of Pouto No. 3, situated in North Head and Okaka Survey Districts, to the north of the entrance to Kaipara Harbour, and containing by admeasurement 17,013 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north-west by Nos. 1 and 2 of the said Pouto No. 2E Block from the sea to the north-western corner of No. 10B of same block; thence towards the north-east by the said No. 10B; thence towards the south by a strip of Crown land adjoining Wahi Tapu Block, and by the said Wahi Tapu Block to Kaipara Harbour; thence by Kaipara Harbour to the sea; and towards the west by the sea to the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

AREA DECLARED TO BE A WILDLIFE REFUGE UNDER THE WILDLIFE ACT 1953

All that area of approximately 17,100 acres in Hobson County in the North Auckland Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast in Block I, North Head Survey District, being the westernmost corner of Pouto No. 2E 10A Block, and running north-easterly and then south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of that block to and along a line parallel to, and 1 chain distant from the north-western, north-eastern, and south-eastern shores of Lake Kanono, to and south-easterly again along the north-eastern boundary of Pouto No. 2E 10A Block aforesaid, to the north-western boundary of part Pouto No. 3 Block; thence south-westerly along that north-western boundary to a point in Block IV, Okaka Survey District, in line with the south-western boundary of the part Pouto No. 3 Block, containing an area of 110 acres, and comprised in certificate of title, Volume 24, folio 158, and along a right line to and along that south-western boundary, to and westerly along the northern shores of the Kaipara Harbour entrance, to and northerly along the sea coast, to the point of commencement.

As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/6 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.
