containing 1 acre 1 rood 21'6 perches, situated in Block VI,
Mahurangi Survey District, Auckland R.D., and adjoining or
passing through part land on D.P. 12252, being part Allot-
ment 1, Kourawhero Parish; as the same is more particularly
delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 154100 (S.O. 27471)
deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington,
and thereon coloured green.
THIRD SCHEDULE
LAND TAKEN
ALL that piece of land in the North Auckland Land District
containing 31 perches, situated in Block VI, Mahurangi Survey
District, Auckland R.D., and being part land on D.P. 1040,
being part Allotment 1, Kourawhero Parish; as the same is
more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.
154100 (S.O. 27471) deposited in the office of the Minister of
Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue, edged blue.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Administrator
of the Government, and issued under the Seal of New
Zealand, this 20th day of August 1957.

PURSUANT to section 29 of the Public Works Amendment Act
1948, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric
Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New
Zealand, hereby proclaim as closed the road described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
ALL those pieces of road in the South Auckland Land Dis-
trict, situated in the Kaingaroa and Galatea Survey Districts,
Auckland R.D., described as follows:

District.

Amending Declaration of Land, Westland Acclimatisation
District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-
General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough,
the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby
revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929,
Volume I, page 445, relating to the Westland Acclimatisation
District notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries
under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22, to the
extent appearing in the First Schedule hereto, and I hereby
proclaim and declare the areas described in the Second
Schedule hereto to be wildlife refuges for the purpose of the
Wildlife Act 1953.
FIRST SCHEDULE
AREAS REVOKED AS SANCTUARIES UNDER THE ANIMALS
PROTECTION AND GAME ACT 1921-22
-
Lake Kanieri: That lake known as Lake Kanieri, situated
in the Kanieri Survey District, Westland Land District, to-
gether with the area contained within a line running parallel
to and 40 chains distant from the shore of the said lake. As the
same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey
Office at Hokitika. -
Part of Waitangi-roto Stream: All that area in the West-
land Land District, being that part of the Waitangi-roto
Stream extending southerly and easterly from its confluence
with the Waitangi-taona River for a distance of 3 miles, and
the area included in lines running parallel to and 3 chains
distant from the said part of the Waitangi-roto Stream on
both sides of that stream. -
Valley of the Franz Josef Glacier: All that area in the
Westland Land District bounded towards the north by Reserve
No. 339, in Block XI, Waiho Survey District, from its south-
western corner to its easternmost corner, and thence by a
right line running due east to the Callery River; then towards
the north-east by that river to the spur which leads to the
summit of the range east of the Franz Josef Glacier; thence
by that spur and the summit of the Southern Alps; thence
towards the south-east by the summit of the Southern Alps
to a point opposite Triad Peaks; and thence towards the west
by a line over Triad Peaks along the summit of Fritz Range
and the summit of the range west of the Franz Josef Glacier to
the south-western corner of Reserve No. 339, the place of
commencement. -
An area in the vicinity of the Three-mile Lagoon,
Okarito Survey District: All that area in the Westland forest
conservation region, containing by estimation 500 acres, more
or less, being Ferry Reserve, No. 66, the Three-mile Lagoon,
and that portion of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1640
within five chains of the edge of the said lagoon, Blocks X,
XI, XIV, and XV, Okarito Survey District.
SECOND SCHEDULE
AREAS DECLARED TO BE WILDLIFE REFUGES UNDER THE
WILDLIFE ACT 1953
-
Lake Kaniere, situated in the County of Westland, West-
land Land District: All that area situated in Blocks VII, XI,
XII, XV, and XVI, Kaniere Survey District, being Lake
Kaniere together with the islands therein and the area bounded
by a line running parallel to and 40 chains distant from the
shore of the said lake. As the same is more particularly
shown on plan marked I.A. 52/352 deposited in the Head
Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and
thereon edged red. -
Part of the Waitangiroto River, situated in the County
of Westland, Westland Land District: All that area situated
in Block IV, Okarito Survey District, and Block I, Whataroa
Survey District, being that part of the Waitangiroto River
extending southerly and easterly from its confluence with the
Waitangitaona River for a distance of 3 miles, and the area
included by lines running parallel to and 3 chains distant
from both banks of the said part of the Waitangiroto River.
As the same is more particularly shown on plan marked I.A.
52/121 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal
Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red. -
Valley of the Franz Josef Glacier, situated in the County
of Westland, Westland Land District: All that area situated
in Blocks XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Waiho Survey District,
Blocks III, IV, VII, and VIII, Mt. Cook Survey District, and
Block XIII, Waitangitaona Survey District, bounded as fol-
lows: Commencing at the south-western corner of part Reserve
339 and proceeding easterly along the southern boundary of
the said reserve, and the southern boundaries of Reserves
1178 and 1218, the latter produced across a road to the left
bank of the Waiho River; thence generally southerly by the
said left bank of the Waiho River and the left bank of the
