Declaring Land, Auckland Acclimatisation District, to be a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby proclaim and declare the area of land described in the Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the said Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

SECTION 225, Block XV, Ohinemuri Survey District: Area, 85 acres 1 rood, more or less.

As shown on plan marked I.A. 52/445 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red. (S.O. Plan 38142.)

Amending Declaration of Land, Rotorua Acclimatisation District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 17 September 1931, Volume I, page 2817, notifying and declaring certain areas in the Rotorua Acclimatisation District to be sanctuaries under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22 to the extent appearing in the First Schedule hereto, and I hereby proclaim and declare the area of land described in the Second Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the said Wildlife Act 1953.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Area revoked as a sanctuary Under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22

  1. Area at Waikaremoana: All that area of land and water in the Auckland and Hawke's Bay Land Districts bounded towards the north-east generally by the summit of the range leading from Whakatakaa Trig. Station at the headwaters of the Whakatane River to the Maungapohatu Trig. Station near the headwaters of the Waikare Stream; thence towards the east generally by the summit of the range leading to Manuaha Trig. Station; thence by the main range leading east to Lake Waikareiti round to Ngamoko Trig. Station; thence by a right line in a northerly direction to the mouth of the Aniwaniwa Stream; thence by the south-western, southern, and western shores of Lakes Waikaremoana and Waiaumoana to the mouth of the Waiharuru Stream near Te Puna; thence by a right line in a north-westerly direction to Whakatakaa Trig. Station, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

Area proclaimed as a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953

  1. Lake Waikaremoana, containing an area of 12,875 acres, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked I.A. 52/3, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red. (M.L. 4876.)

Amending Declaration of Land, Waitaki Acclimatisation District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929, Volume I, page 445, notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921-22, in so far as that Warrant relates to the Waitaki Acclimatisation District, and hereby proclaim and declare the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be wildlife refuges for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

  1. Lake Ohau and Watershed: All that area in the Land Districts of Canterbury and Otago containing 294,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point at the junction of the Main Divide (between the Canterbury and Westland Land Districts) and the Ben Ohau Range; thence easterly generally along that range to Mount Sealy; thence southerly generally along the Ben Ohau Range to Mount Ostler; thence along a right line to a point in the middle of the Ohau River, one mile above the crossing of the Timaru-Cromwell State Highway No. 60; thence westerly generally to and along the leading spur and watershed between Lake Ohau and the Wairepo River to the Barrier Range; thence northerly along the Barrier Range to Mount Strauchon on the summit of the Main Divide between the Land Districts of Otago and Westland; thence north-easterly generally along the summit of the Main Divide to the point of commencement.

As the same is more particularly shown on plan marked I.A. 52/73 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

  1. Tarapuka Creek, Katiki: Lot A, D.P. 2173, being Sections 901R, 902R, 911R, and parts of Sections 32, 33, 42, 43, 2 of 44, 900R, 903R, and 904R, Block II, and parts of Sections 15, 1 of 32, 2 of 32, 33, 34, and 918R, Block XI, Moeraki Survey District: Area, 333 acres 1 rood 30 perches, more or less. All certificate of title, Volume 176, folio 48.

As the same is more particularly shown on plan marked I.A. 52/261 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Pursuant to section 18 of the Forests Act 1949, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby set apart the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto as permanent State forest land.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT-NELSON CONSERVANCY

SECTIONS 10 and 11, Block IV, and Section 5, Block VIII, Howard Survey District, Waimea County: Area, 1,346 acres, more or less.

Shown bordered red on plan No. 108/89 deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington. (S.O. Plans 6287 and 6371.)
