ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of
July 1957
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Mackenzie Rabbit
    District Order 1957.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the
    date of its notification in the Gazette.
  2. The boundaries of the Mackenzie Rabbit District, which
    was constituted by Order in Council on the 23rd day of
    March 1949,* are hereby altered and redefined; and as from
    the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said
    district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE MACKENZIE RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Ashburton, Mackenzie, and Waimate
Counties of the Canterbury Land District, containing 549,700
acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a
point on the left bank of the Waitaki River at the South-
western corner of Run 68, and situated in Block V, Hewlings
Survey District (the said point being on the boundary
between the Waimate and Mackenzie Counties); thence
proceeding northerly generally up the left bank of the
Waitaki River to its junction with the left bank of the Tekapo
River; thence along a right line across the mouth of the
Tekapo River to the junction of the right bank of the Tekapo
River with the left bank of the Pukaki River; thence up the
right bank of the Tekapo River, to and along the western
shore of Lake Tekapo, to and along the right bank of the
Godley River to the terminal face of the Godley Glacier;
thence north-easterly generally along the terminal face of
the Godley Glacier and the south-east edge of that glacier
and continuing to the summit of the Two Thumb Range;
thence southerly generally along the summit of that range to
and along the eastern boundary of Run 77A and again along
the summit of the Two Thumb Range to Tekapo Saddle,
Block XII, Tekapo Survey District, thence south-easterly
generally to and along the middle of Firewood Stream to the
junction of that stream with the Opihi River; thence
southerly generally to and along the watershed passing through
Rural Sections 36085 and 36458, along the eastern boundaries
of Rural Sections 36459 and 36460, passing through Rural
Section 38102, and along the eastern boundaries of Rural
Sections 36464 and 36465, to and along the road forming
the western boundary of Rural Section 36091, in Block IX,
Tengawai Survey District, to a point opposite the north-
western corner of S.G.R. 51; thence south-westerly along a
right line through S.G.R. 54 to a point on the north-eastern
boundary of part Rural Section 37501, distant 3965 links from
the north-eastern corner of that section; thence along a right
line bearing 254° 44’ through the said part Rural Section
37501 to the Tengawai River; thence up that river and the
Mackenzie Stream to Lockharts Stream, and up that stream
in a southerly direction to its source; thence to and along
the western boundaries of Section 1, Block IV, and Section 1,
Block VIII, Mackenzie Survey District, to the Hakataramea
River; thence down that river to Dalgety Stream, and up that
stream to the western boundary of Block XII, Mackenzie
Survey District; thence southerly along the boundary of that
block to the road passing through Rural Section 30128;
thence south-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary
of Run 252, and continuing south-westerly along the eastern
boundary of that run to the rabbit-proof fence in Block III,
Dalzell Survey District; thence north-westerly along that
fence to the north-eastern corner of Run 70A on the summit
of the Kirkliston Range; thence southerly and westerly
generally along the rabbit-proof fence, being the eastern and
southern boundaries of Run 70A and the southern boundary
of Run 68 to the point of commencement.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Opihi Rabbit District
    Order 1957.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the
    date of its notification in the Gazette.
  2. The boundaries of the Opihi Rabbit District, which was
    constituted by Order in Council on the 22nd day of September
    1943,* are hereby altered and redefined; and as from the
    commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district
    shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE OPIHI RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Counties of Geraldine, Mackenzie, and
Levels, and the Borough of Temuka, Canterbury Land District,
containing 109,200 acres, more or less, bounded by a line
commencing at the junction of Burkes Road and Geraldine-
Fairlie Main Highway No. 116 in Block V, Geraldine Survey
District, and proceeding southerly along Burkes Road, Chap-
mans Road, a public road forming the western boundary of
Rural Section 10447, Boundary Road, and a public road
passing through Rural Section 7160 and Winchester Settle-
ment and forming the western boundary of Rural Section
11474 to the left bank of the Hae Hae Te Moana River;
thence southerly generally along the left bank of that river
and the left bank of the Temuka River to the Main South
Road; thence south-westerly along that road to its junction
with the Point-Arowhenua Main Highway; thence westerly
generally along that main highway to its junction with Butlers
Road; thence north-westerly generally along that road, the
north-eastern boundary of Reserve 1580 (Pleasant Point
Domain) and its production to the north-western boundary
of Rural Section 10174, along that boundary, the southern
and western boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 5594, the southern
boundary of Rural Section 16698, to and along a right line
parallel to and 5 chains distant from the eastern side of
Halsted Road, to a public road forming the northern boun-
dary of the last-mentioned rural section; thence westerly
generally along that road; the crossing of Halsted Road and
the southern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 4427, to
Pleasant Point-Fairlie Main Highway; thence north-westerly
along that main highway to the north-western boundary of
Rural Section 6331; thence south-westerly along that boundary,
to and south-easterly along a right line parallel to and 20
chains distant from the eastern side of Mazes Road, to and
south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Rural
Section 6331 to Mazes Road, and south-easterly along that
road to the Timaru-Cromwell State Highway No. 60; thence
south-westerly along that State Highway to Clellands
Road, Block V, Pareora Survey District; thence north-
erly generally along that road (crossing Clellands Bridge
over the Tengawai River) to Moa Pass Road; thence
westerly along that road to Sterndale Valley Road;
thence north-easterly along that road to Timewells
Road; thence north-westerly along that road, Mowats Road,
a public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Rural
Section 21103, the south-western and north-western boundaries
of Rural Section 20111, the south-western boundary of Rural
Section 5454, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries
of Rural Section 18519, to Three Mile Bush Road; thence
north-easterly generally along that road, Hazelburn Road, and
its production to the middle of the Opihi River; thence
north-westerly generally along the middle of that river to and
along Raincliff Bridge; and the Pleasant Point-Fairlie Main
Highway No. 298 to the Geraldine-Fairlie Main Highway
No. 116 (Cattle Valley Road); thence north-easterly and south-
easterly generally along the Geraldine-Fairlie Main Highway
No. 116, crossing the River Opuha and continuing along that
main highway to Howes Road, Block VII, Opihi Survey
District; thence easterly generally along Howes Road and
the Geraldine-Fairlie Main Highway No. 116 aforesaid to
Wells Road; thence north-easterly generally along that road,
Woodside Road, across the Hae Hae Te Moana River, a
public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Reserve
2703 and McKeowns Road to Sercombes Road; thence
easterly generally along that road to Taylors Road; thence
south-easterly generally along Taylors Road, Martins Road,
Guilfords Road, a road forming the northern boundaries of
Rural Sections 12840 and 18568, Youngs Road, Pyes Road,
and Geraldine-Fairlie Main Highway No. 116, to the point of
commencement.
