Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 12th day of June 1957
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto for the common use and benefit of the Maori people resident in the Oruawharo district as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a burial ground.
SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
All that area of land situated in Block X, Otamatea Survey District, containing 14 acres, more or less, and being all the land known as Oruawharo A 2A; as is more particularly delineated on the plan numbered M.A. 21/1/52 lodged in the Head Office of the Department of Maori Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Varying an Order in Council Prohibiting All Alienations of Certain Maori Land Other Than Alienations in Favour of the Crown

His Excellency THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to section 254 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby varies an Order in Council made on 10 March 1943 and published in the Gazette, 18 March 1943, Volume I, page 321, prohibiting all alienations of the Maori land known as Matakan Island and Rangiwaea Island blocks, other than alienations in favour of the Crown, by excluding therefrom the lands described in the Schedule hereto.

Pursuant to section 63 of the Maori Affairs Act 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby revokes the Order in Council referred to in Part I of the Schedule hereto in so far as it affects the land mentioned in Part II of the said Schedule.

Exempting Land in the Otago Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

Pursuant to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
The land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
All that area of land containing one rood, more or less, situated in the Borough of Oamaru, being Section 8, Block V, of the Town of Oamaru, as shown on plan endorsed on conveyance registered in the Deeds Register Office at Dunedin as No. 89822 and being the whole of the land in certificate of title, Volume 241, folio 203 (Otago Registry).
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 11th day of June 1957.

Exempting Land in the Auckland Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

Pursuant to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
The land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
All that area of land containing 36 3 perches, more or less, being Lot 1 on Deposited Plan No. S. 1527, being part of Allotment 80, Parish of Pepepe, excepting all coal, fireclay, limestone, and all minerals in, upon, or under the said land, and being part of the land in certificate of title, Volume 883, folio 180, South Auckland Registry, subject to certain mining rights in favour of the Taupiri Coal Mines Ltd. created by outstanding lease No. 199268 (R. 165/431), and in favour of William Joseph Ralph created by transfer No. 246718.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 11th day of June 1957.

Appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy
His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the appointment of Mr Herbert Richard Churton Wild as Judge Advocate of the Fleet in succession to Mr H. E. Evans, C.M.G., Q.C., to date 16 May 1957.

Termination of Appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy
Pursuant to section 7 of the Naval Defence Act 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General has accepted the resignation of Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander Lawrence G. Young, M.B., CH.B., M.R.C.P.(EDIN.), M.R.C.P.(LOND.), from the Active List of the Royal New Zealand Navy. He is to be placed on the Retired List of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy on a date to be reported.
