A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Lieutenant-
General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-
General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim and declare the
area of land described in the Schedule hereto to be a wildlife
refuge for the purposes of the said Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

RAKAUNUI No. 1c 2B 1A Block, situated in Block 1, Karioi
Survey District: Area, 59 acres and 2 perches, more or less.
All certificate of title, Volume 899, folio 159.

As shown on the plan marked I.A. 52/415 deposited in
the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
and thereon edged red. (M.L. Plan 16464.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand,
this 11th day of May 1957.

Amending Declaration of Land, West Coast Acclimatisation
District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Lieutenant-
General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-
General of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant
published in Gazette, 9 August 1934, Volume II, page 2451,
notifying and declaring an area of land to be a sanctuary
under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22, and
hereby proclaim and declare the area of land described in the
Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of
the Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

All that area in the Nelson Land District, Buller County,
containing by admeasurement 108 acres, more or less, comprising
portion of the Western Lagoon, Section 231, Square 141,
and adjacent islands, situated in Block II, Steeples Survey
District, and bounded generally as follows:
Commencing at a point on the mean high-water mark
being the south-western corner of Section 225, Square 141;
thence towards the north by the said Section 225, Section
224, Square 141, the road forming the boundaries of parts
Section 17, Block II, and Section 60, Square 141, and by
Crown land to a point in line with the production of a due
south line from the south-eastern corner of the said Section
60, Square 141; thence due south by that line produced to
the northern boundary of Section 61, Square 141, thence
westerly and southerly by the said Section 61 to a point in
line with the production of the road forming the south-
eastern boundary of Section 222, Square 141, and by that
line produced to the road forming the north-eastern boundary
of the said Section 222; thence by that road, part Section 238,
Square 141, Section 223, Square 141, again by part Section
238, Square 141, the abutment of a public road, Crown land,
and the road forming the south-eastern boundary of part
Section 17, Block II, to the point of commencement.
As the same is more particularly shown on plan marked
I.A. 52/340 deposited in the Head Office, Department of
Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Amending Declaration of Land, Otago Acclimatisation
District, as a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I,
Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the
Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby revoke the War-
rant published in Gazette, 21 February 1929, Volume I, page
445, notifying and declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries
under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22,
in so far as that Warrant relates to the Otago Acclimatisation
District, and hereby proclaim and declare the areas described
in the Schedule hereto to be wildlife refuges for the purposes
of the Wildlife Act 1953.

SCHEDULE

  1. Section 6, Block V, Lauder Survey District. Area: 303
    acres and 27 perches, more or less. All registered lease,
    Volume 127, folio 84. (S.O. Plan 828.)
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/343 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  2. The dam situated in Section 36s, Clifton Settlement,
    Block IV, Pomahaka Survey District. (S.O. Plan 2108.)
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/344 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  3. That portion of the Taieri River and shingle banks
    between a line at right angles to the said river and passing
    through the northern extremity of the eastern boundary of
    Section 5, Block XIV, Maniatoto Survey District, and the
    production of the eastern boundary of Section 6, Block XV,
    Maniatoto Survey District, including the road reserves along
    both banks of the said part of the said river and shingle
    banks; also Section 26, Block XIV, Maniatoto Survey District,
    and that portion of Section 6, Block XIV, lying between
    a production of the western boundary of Section 26 and the
    Taieri River.
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/345 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  4. All that lagoon situated in Section 1 and Lot 3, D.P. 3939,
    being part Section 2, Block V, West Taieri Survey District,
    and in Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, and Crown Land, Block XV,
    Town of Outram. (S.O. Plans 721 Tn., D.P. 3939.)
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/346 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  5. All that area situated in the Borough of Waikouaiti
    bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the north-
    western corner of Section 1, Block 76, Town of Hawkesbury,
    and the eastern boundary of the Hawkesbury Lagoon; thence
    generally southerly, north-easterly, south-westerly, and south-
    easterly along the eastern shore of the said lagoon and the
    southern boundary of Section 1, Block 74, Town of Hawkes-
    bury, to the South Pacific Ocean; thence generally south-
    westerly along the mean high-water mark of the Pacific Ocean
    to its junction with the production of the south-western boun-
    dary of original Section 8, Block VI, Hawkesbury Survey
    District; thence north-westerly and north-easterly to and
    along the south-western and north-western boundaries of
    Section 8 aforesaid to its junction with Beach Street; thence
    across Beach Street to the southernmost corner of Lot 4,
    D.P. 7612; thence north-easterly along the southern bound-
    aries of said Lot 4 and Lot 4, Deeds Plan 413, to the
    western shore of the Hawkesbury Lagoon; thence generally
    northerly along that shore to its junction with railway land
    adjoining Section 13, Block XIV, Town of Hawkesbury;
    thence north-easterly along the south-western boundary of
    the said railway land to its junction with an unnamed road;
    thence south-easterly along the southern boundary of that
    road to the point of commencement.
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/348 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  6. All that area being Section 3, part Sections 1, 2, and 4;
    Block I, East Taieri Survey District, part of said part Section
    1, being more particularly shown on part Lot 1, Deeds Plan
    356: Area, 168 acres 1 rood 9·35 perches. All certificate of
    title, Volume 387, folio 67.
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/351 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
  7. Goat Island and Quarantine Island situated in Otago
    Harbour.
    As the same are shown on plan marked I.A. 52/358
    deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs,
    Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
  8. All those ponds and lagoons situated in Sections 113,
    142, 146, and 147, Block I, Teviot Survey District. (S.O. Plans
    7696 and 7700.)
    As the same are shown on plan marked I.A. 52/423
    deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs,
    Wellington, and thereon edged red.
  9. All that area situated in Greenvale Survey District
    bounded by a line commencing at the north-eastern corner
    of Section 15, Block XIII, Greenvale Survey District; thence
    southerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 15, 16,
    and 17 and their production to the right bank of the Poma-
    haka River; thence north-westerly up the right bank of the
    Leithen Burn to a point in line with the north-western boun-
    dary of Run 202A; thence north-easterly to and along that
    boundary and the northern boundary of Run 202A to the
    Pomahaka River; thence easterly across and generally southerly
    down the left bank of the Pomahaka River to a point bear-
    ing 315 degrees from the north-eastern corner of Section 15,
    Block XIII, Greenvale Survey District; thence southerly along
    a straight line to that corner, the point of commencement.
    As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/221 deposited
    in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
    and thereon edged red.
