ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 20th day of March 1957

Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby constitutes and declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection (1) of section 14 of the Rabbits Act 1955 applies, a rabbit district, and appoints that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Te Anau Rabbit District, and orders that the basis on which the Rabbit Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of the land occupied by the ratepayer.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE TE ANAU RABBIT DISTRICT

All the area in the Southland Land District, Wallace and Lake Counties, containing by estimation 666,000 acres, more or less, bounded as follows:

Commencing at the outlet of the Clinton River into Lake Te Anau; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern shore of Lake Te Anau, the left bank of the Waiau River, and the eastern shore of Lake Manapouri, to the left bank of the Waiau River; thence south-easterly generally along the left bank of the Waiau River to the right bank of the Mararoa River; thence north-easterly and easterly along the right bank of the Mararoa River to the Princhester Creek; thence southerly along the Princhester Creek to the northern boundary of Run 542; thence due east along the northern boundaries of Run 542 and Section 131, Block VI, Takitimu Survey District, to the north-eastern corner thereof; thence southerly generally along the eastern boundaries of the said Section 131 and Run 542 to the Princhester Creek; thence south-easterly generally along the Princhester Creek to the north-western corner of Section 170, Block XII, Takitimu Survey District; thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 170, and the eastern boundary of Section 134, Block XII, aforesaid, to the south-eastern corner of the said Section 134; thence southerly along a right line to the northernmost point of Run 198c; thence easterly generally along the northern boundary of the Hamilton Burn Rabbit District as described in Gazette, No. 4, of 27 January 1955, page 61, to the right bank of the Oreti River; thence northerly generally along the right bank of the Oreti River to the western boundary of Run 545; thence northerly generally along the western boundaries of Run 545 and Run 350A to the right bank of the Greenstone River; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the right bank of the Greenstone River and the McKellar branch to Lake McKellar; thence northerly along the western shore of Lake McKellar to its northernmost point; thence northerly along a right line to the southernmost point of Lake Howden; thence northerly along the western shore of Lake Howden to the outlet of Pass Creek; thence north-easterly by a right line to Mount Macpherson; thence south-westerly by a right line to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF THE AHURIRI RABBIT DISTRICT

All that area in the Otago Land District and in the Counties of Vincent and Waitaki containing 190,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the summit of Mount Huxley in Hunter Survey District; thence south-easterly along the summit of the Barrier Range to Mount Maitland; thence south-westerly along the summit of the Barrier Range to the source of Hodgkinson Stream approximately 1 mile north of Mount Peterson; thence south-westerly to and down Hodgkinson Stream to its confluence with the Ahuriri River near Trig. F, Stafford Survey District; thence generally south-easterly down the centre of the main stream of the Ahuriri River to a point in line with the western boundary of Run 201B, Ahuriri Survey District; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary to the junction of the Dunstan Range and Wether Range; thence generally south-westerly along the summit of Dunstan Range through Trig. Z to the north-eastern boundary of Run 235c, Lindis Survey District; thence generally north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Run 235c to the confluence of Pass Burn and Breast Burn; thence generally northerly and westerly up Breast Burn to the north-eastern boundary of Run 236; thence north-westerly along that boundary to and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 335B and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Run 335B to Dingle Burn, Mid-Hawea Survey District; thence north-easterly along a straight line to the south-western corner of Run 94 on the southern boundary of Stafford Survey District; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Run 94 to Mount Huxley, the point of commencement.

Constituting Waihi United Urban Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 27th day of March 1957

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

  1. That, from the 31st day of March 1957, the Waihi Urban Fire District shall be abolished.

  2. That on the 1st day of April 1957 the areas described in the Schedule hereto shall be constituted a united urban fire district by the name of the Waihi United Urban Fire District.

  3. That the number of members to be elected to represent the Councils of the Borough of Waihi and the County of Ohinemuri on the Board of the district hereby constituted shall be two, who shall be elected in the following manner:

    (a) One member by resolution of the Waihi Borough Council.
    (b) One member by resolution of the Ohinemuri County Council.

  4. Notwithstanding anything contained in section 53 of the Fire Services Act 1949, the amount to be paid by the uniting local authorities to the Fire Board of the District hereby constituted shall, as between each of the said uniting local authorities, be in the following proportions:

    (a) Waihi Borough Council fifteen twenty-seconds.
    (b) Ohinemuri County Council seven twenty-seconds.

SCHEDULE

WAIHI UNITED URBAN FIRE DISTRICT

All that area comprising the Borough of Waihi.

Also all that area in the County of Ohinemuri in the South Auckland Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the northernmost corner of Lot 7, D.P. 23576, being part Sections 15 and 16, Block XIV, Ohinemuri Survey District, and running generally easterly along the northern boundary of the said Lot 7, and that boundary produced to and down the middle of the Waitekauri River, to a point in line with the generally western boundary of Section 65, Block XV, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence along a right line to and along the western and northern boundaries of that Section 65, and along the southern boundary of part Section 64, and that boundary produced through Section 152 to the middle of the public road forming the south-western boundary of Section 73, the said sections being of Block XV aforesaid; thence along the middle of that public road to a point in line with the generally eastern boundary of the said Section 73, and along a right line to and along that boundary and the south-eastern and eastern boundaries of Section 12, to and along the southern and generally eastern boundaries of Section 6, both sections being of Block XI, Ohinemuri Survey District, to and along the middle of the public road forming the western and northern boundaries of Section 18, Block XII, Ohinemuri Survey District, to a point in line with the western boundary of part Lot 2 of Section 16 of Block XII aforesaid; thence along a right line to and along that western boundary...
