Revoking Declaration of Main Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway
PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
- (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.
(2) The Order in Council made on the 2nd day of April 1928* declaring (inter alia) the public highway firstly described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.
(3) The Order in Council made on the 16th day of December 1935† declaring (inter alia) the public highway secondly described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway. - The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
- This notice shall come into force as from the 1st day of January 1957.
FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15
ALL that public highway in the Counties of Levels and Waimate declared as the Main Otipua Highway as described in Order in Council dated the 2nd day of April 1928.*
All that public highway in the Levels County declared as the Timaru-Holm Station Bridge Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated the 16th day of December 1935.†
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15
TIMARU-BRASELL'S BRIDGE: All that public highway in the Counties of Levels and Waimate commencing at its junction with the Timaru-Dunedin State Highway at the eastern corner of Part 3, D.P. 1105, Block 1, Patiti Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Otipua and Brasell's Road and terminating at its junction with the Cave-Pareora Main Highway at the southern corner of Section 100, Block VIII, Otaio Survey District, being a distance of 7 miles 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152379 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Timaru-Holme Station Bridge: All that public highway in the Counties of Waimate and Levels commencing at the Timaru City boundary at the northern corner of Lot 1, D.P. 16763, Block 1, Patiti Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction via Coonor and Fairview Roads and in a south-westerly direction via Holme Station Bridge Road and terminating at its junction with the Cave-Pareora Main Highway at the southern boundary of Part 1, D.P. 1924, Block III, Otaio Survey District, being a distance of 8 miles 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152379 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

ALL that public highway in the County of Ellesmere declared as the Lake Road - Yankee Crossing Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 2 April 1928.*
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 14
LEESTON-DUNSANDEL: All that public highway in the County of Ellesmere commencing at its junction with the Christchurch-Timaru State Highway at the north-west corner of Section 7792, Block 8, Selwyn Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction via those public highways known as Main Dunsandel Road, Lower Killinchy Road, Anderson’s Road, and Market Street in the township of Leeston, and terminating at its junction with the Sockburn - Rakaia Huts Main Highway at the intersection of those public highways known as Fereday’s Road, High Street, and Market Street, being a distance of 9 miles 35 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152377 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
- The main highway secondly described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be designated as State highway.
- (1) The public highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways.
(2) The Order in Council made on the 2nd day of October 1940* declaring (inter alia) the public highways described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highways is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highways. - The public highways described in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
- The main highway secondly described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby designated as State highway.
- This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that public highway in the Counties of Lake and Vincent declared as the Wanaka-Haast Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940.
All that public highway in the Counties of Lake and Vincent declared as the Queensberry-Wanaka Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940.
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 16
WANAKA-HAAST: All that public highway in the County of Vincent commencing at its junction with the Queensberry-Wanaka State Highway on the eastern boundary of Section 10, Block 4, Lower Wanaka Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction along the western side of Lake Hawea to the Neck Lagoon; thence generally along the eastern side of Lake Wanaka and terminating near the Makarora Homestead at the north-east boundary of Section 34795, McKerrow Survey District, being a distance of 37 miles, more or less as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 152490 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Queensberry-Wanaka: All that public highway in the Counties of Lake and Vincent commencing at its junction with the Timaru-Cromwell via Lindis State Highway at the western boundary of Section 29, Block 9, Tarras Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly and north-westerly direction via Luggate and terminating at its junction with the Queenstown-Wanaka via Arrowtown Main Highway at the south-eastern corner of Section 72, Block IX, Town of Wanaka, being a distance of 16 miles 30 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151905 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
