WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the 2nd day of November 1955 and published in the Gazette, 3 November, 1955, page 1709, No. 68, the Counties of Whangamomona and Stratford were united to form one county under the name of the County of Stratford:

Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby defines, as set out under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Stratford and of the North, East, West, South, Mangaehu, Ngatimaru, and Whangamomona Ridings of that County.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF STRATFORD

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District bounded as follows: Commencing at a point being the summit of Mount Egmont; thence by a right line to the intersection of the west side of Forest Road and the Waipuku Stream; thence down the middle of the Waipuku Stream to its confluence with the Manganui Stream; thence up the middle of the Manganui Stream to the northern boundary of Block IX, Huiroa Survey District; thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of Block IX, Huiroa Survey District, to Croydon Road; thence generally easterly along the northern side of Croydon Road to the south-eastern corner of Section 11, Block X, Huiroa Survey District; thence northerly by the eastern boundary of the said Section 11 to the southern boundary of Section 14, Block X, Huiroa Survey District; thence easterly along the said southern boundary of Section 14 to the western side of the Mangaotea Road; thence southerly along the western side of that road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 20, Block X, Huiroa Survey District; thence to and easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 20; thence southerly and easterly along the western and southern boundaries of Section 26, Block X, Huiroa Survey District, to the Makara Road; thence northerly along the western side of the Makara Road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 28, Block X, Huiroa Survey District; thence to and easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 28 to the eastern boundary of Block X, Huiroa Survey District; thence southerly along the said eastern boundary of Block X to the middle of the Makino Stream; thence generally easterly along the middle of the Makino Stream to the eastern boundary of Section 5, Block XI, Huiroa Survey District; thence northerly along the said boundary of Section 5 to the middle of the Makara Road; thence generally northerly along the middle of the Makara and Mana Roads to the northern boundary of Block XI, Huiroa Survey District; thence generally easterly along the northern boundaries of Blocks XI and XII, Huiroa Survey District, to the middle of the Makino Stream; thence down the middle of the Makino Stream to the Waitara River; thence down the middle of the Waitara River to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 9, Block VIII, Huiroa Survey District; thence to and generally northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries of Sections 9 and 13, Block VIII, Huiroa Survey District, and northerly along the western boundaries of Sections 18 and 19, Block V, Ngatimaru Survey District, to the Pita Road; thence across that road and easterly generally along its northern side to the westernmost corner of Section 14, Block I, Ngatimaru Survey District; thence generally easterly along the southern boundaries of Sections 14 and 13, Block I aforesaid, to the southernmost point of the last-mentioned Section; thence by a right line direct to the middle of the Waitara River; thence up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 1, Block X, Upper Waitara Survey District; thence to and generally northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries of the said Section 1 and its production to the middle of the Waitara River; thence generally easterly and northerly up the middle of the Waitara River to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 2, Block XVI, Upper Waitara Survey District; thence by a right line to the north-western corner of the said Section 2; thence generally easterly and northerly by the eastern side of the Waitara Valley Road and the Rerekino Road to the southern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Upper Waitara Survey District; thence generally easterly by the southern boundaries of Section 3 and part Section 4, Block VIII, Upper Waitara Survey District, and generally easterly and northerly by the southern and eastern boundaries of Sections 5, 6, and 7, Block V, Pouatu Survey District, to the Makino North Road; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 8, Block I, Pouatu Survey District; thence generally northerly and westerly by the eastern and northern boundaries of the said Section 8 to the Moki Road; thence across the Moki Road by a right line to a point on the northern side of the said road being its intersection with the boundary between Sections 4 and 5, Block I, Pouatu Survey District; thence generally northerly by the western boundaries of Section 4, Block I, Pouatu Survey District, and Section 2, Block XIII, Waro Survey District, to the Rerekapa Road; thence across the Rerekapa Road to and generally easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Section 9, Block XIII, Waro Survey District; thence generally easterly along the northern boundaries of Section 10, Block XIII, and Section 5, Block XIV, Waro Survey District, to and across the Okau Road and easterly along the northern boundary of Section 8, Block XIV, Waro Survey District, to the Mount Damper Road; thence generally easterly and northerly along the Mount Damper Road to its intersection with the northern boundary of Block XV, Waro Survey District; thence easterly by northern boundaries of Blocks XV and XVI, Waro Survey District, to the confiscation line, and south-westerly along that line to the eastern boundary of Block XV, Waro Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Block XV and its extension to the 39th parallel of south latitude, and easterly along that parallel to the middle of the Ohura River; thence down the middle of the Ohura River and down the middle of the Wanganui River to its confluence with the Tangarakau Stream; thence by a right line to Trig. Station Whakaihuwaka on Mount Humphries; thence along the western watershed of the Wanganui River to a point in line with the southern boundary of Block VII, Taurakawa Survey District; thence westerly by the southern boundaries of the said Block and Block VI and its extension to the Koane Road; thence westerly by the northern side of Koane Road, the eastern boundary of Section 17, Block XII, Omoana Survey District, and northerly by eastern side of the Moeawatea Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of section 3, Block VIII, Omoana Survey District; thence to and westerly along the northern boundaries of Sections 3, 4, and 1, Block VIII aforesaid, to and across the Kawera Road, and westerly along the northern boundaries of Sections 21, 4, and part Section 1, Block VII, Omoana Survey District, to the Waitiri Road; thence northerly along the Waitiri Road to the south-western corner of part Section 14, Block VII, Omoana Survey District; thence northerly by the western boundary of the said part Section 14 to the southern boundary of part Section 8, Block II, Omoana Survey District; thence westerly along the said southern boundary of part Section 8 and generally southerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 5s and 9s, Tawhiwhi Settlement; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of part Lot 1, D.P. 1644, and part Lot 6, D.P. 2383; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of part Lot 7, D.P. 2358, to the Patea River; thence up the Patea River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 11, Block VIII, Ngaere Survey District; thence to and westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundaries of the said Section 11; thence westerly by southern boundary of Block VIII, Ngaere Survey District to Trig. Station B (Rahui); thence northerly generally by the eastern and northern boundaries of Lot 15, D.P. 577, and southerly and westerly by the eastern and southern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 2575, and south-westerly by the north-western boundary of Lot 15, D.P. 577, to the Pukengahu Road; thence generally northerly by that road to a point due west of Trig. Station B (Rahui); thence by a right line running due west to the north-western boundary of Lot 13, D.P. 577; thence south-westerly by that boundary to the northern boundary of Block XI, Ngaere Survey District, and north-westerly by that boundary to the northernmost corner of Section 35, Block XI, Ngaere Survey District, and south-westerly by the north-western boundary of that Section to the Oru Road and southerly by that road to the Ngaere Road; thence generally westerly by the Ngaere Road and the Korepo Road to and westerly by the northern boundary of Block X, Ngaere Survey District, to the middle of the Waingongoro River, and generally northerly by the middle of that river to the middle of the Finnerty Road and generally westerly along the middle of that road, and south-easterly along the middle of the Hastings Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of part Section 32, Block VIII, Kaupokonui Survey District; thence to and westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundaries of the said part Section 32 and westerly along the northern boundary of Section 31, Block VIII aforesaid, to and across the Duthie Road; thence north-westerly by that road, and westerly along the northern boundary of Section 29, Block VIII aforesaid, and its production to the middle of the Palmer Road; thence generally southerly by that road to the north-eastern corner of Block XI, Kaupokonui Survey District; thence westerly by the northern boundaries of Blocks XI and X, Kaupokonui Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section 1, Block VI, Kaupokonui Survey District, and northerly by the eastern boundary of that Section to the Opunake Road; thence south-westerly by the southern side of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 16, Block VI, Kaupokonui Survey District; thence to and northerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 16, 13, and 11, Block VI aforesaid, to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned Section, and thence north-westerly by a right line to the summit of Mount Egmont, being the point of commencement, excluding therefrom the Borough of Stratford as defined in Gazette, 28 July 1898, page 1192, No. 57.

BOUNDARIES OF NORTH RIDING OF COUNTY OF STRATFORD

ALL that area situated in the Stratford County bounded as follows: Commencing at a point being the summit of Mount Egmont and proceeding generally easterly along the northern boundary of the County of Stratford hereinbefore described to the Makino Stream; thence generally southerly up the Makino Stream to the eastern boundary line of Section 15, Block XI, Huiroa Survey District; thence southerly by the eastern boundaries of the said Section 15 and Section 13, Block XI, Huiroa Survey District, and Section 24, Block XV, Huiroa Survey District; thence southerly and westerly by the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 16, Block XV, Huiroa Survey District, to and southerly along the Manawawiri Road to the southern boundary of Section 17, Block XV, Huiroa Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundary of the said Section 17 and generally southerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block XV, and Sections 22, 23, and 39, Block XIV, Huiroa Survey District; thence westerly along
