Special Order Made by Opotiki County Council Altering Riding Boundaries
PURSUANT to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920 as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921–22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Opotiki County Council and fixes the 1st day of November as the date on which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, in exercise of the powers contained in section 23 of the Counties Act 1920, the Opotiki County Council resolves by way of special order that the Upper Wai-oeka Riding be amalgamated with the Otara Riding and that, in lieu of the present division of the Opotiki County into six ridings, the County be comprised of five ridings.
That the alteration of riding boundaries hereby made shall take effect on and after the date of the next general election of the Council.
That the riding created by the amalgamation of the Otara and Upper Wai-oeka Ridings be called the Otara Riding.
SCHEDULE
OTARA RIDING
ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District and bounded as follows:
Firstly, commencing at a point common to the Opotiki and Waikohu County boundaries, being a point on the right bank of the Motu River at its intersection with the northern boundary of Lot 8, D.P. 2480, situated in Block IX, Maungawaru Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction generally by the north-eastern boundaries of Lot 8, D.P. 2480, Lots 7 and 6, D.P. 2479, Lot 3, D.P. 2395, Lot 2, D.P. 2394, all part of Mangatu No. 5 Block, situated in Blocks IX, XIV, and XV, Maungawaru, and II and IV, Arowhana Survey Districts, the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Waipaoa No. 1E Block to its intersection with a right line through Trigonometrical Station 139 and Arowhana; thence by that right line to Arowhana Trigonometrical Station situated in Block IV, Arowhana Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction generally by a right line between Arowhana and Kapua Trigonometrical Stations to and across a river bank reserve to the middle of the Ruatahunga Stream situated in Block IX, Hikurangi Survey District; thence in a westerly direction generally up the middle of the said Ruatahunga Stream, by the southern boundary of the Waitahaia Block produced to the middle of the Te Kaikeheka Stream; thence down the middle of the said Te Kaikeheka Stream and the Whahunga Stream to the right bank of the Motu River in Block VI, Maungawaru Survey District; thence up the right bank of the Motu River to its intersection with the northern boundary of Lot 8, D.P. 2480, in Block IX, Maungawaru Survey District, being the point of commencement:
Secondly, commencing at a point common to the Waikohu and Opotiki County boundaries on the right bank of the Motu River opposite the north-eastern boundary of a road reserve which forms part of the south-western boundary of Kapuarangi No. 2 Block in Block X, Waiaua East Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction generally to and by the said north-eastern boundary of the road reserve, the south-western boundary of the said Kapuarangi No. 2 Block, the southern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 10163 (Auckland), Kapuarangi No. 1 West Block, Lot 4 of Torere No. 3 Block, D.P. 12164 (Auckland), across a public road, again by the southern and then western boundaries of aforesaid Lot 4 of Torere No. 3 Block, across a public road, again by the aforesaid western boundary of Lot 4 of Torere No. 3 Block, the south-western boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 6827 (Auckland), part Lot 1, D.P. 6827 (Auckland), Torere Section 43, across the Opotiki–Te Araroa State Highway No. 45, again by the south-western boundary of Torere Section 42, the western boundary of Torere Section 42 aforesaid, a public road, again by the aforementioned western boundary of Torere Section 42 to the mean high-water mark of the sea in Block I, Waiaua Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the mean high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the eastern side of a roadway which forms the eastern boundary of Papakainga 3z Block in Block V, Waiaua Survey District; thence in a southerly direction generally to and across a roadway, to and by the eastern side of the first-mentioned roadway produced to the middle of the Opotiki–Te Araroa State Highway No. 45; thence to and by the middle of a public road which meets the State highway at this point, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of the Papakainga in Opape No. 5 Block; thence to and by the said north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of said Papakainga Block, the south-eastern boundaries of Opape Blocks 5A 2A, 5A 2B, 5E 2A, 5E 2B, part 5B 2B, 5B 1B 3 produced to the middle of a public road; thence by the middle of the said public road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Opape 6D Block; thence to and by the north-eastern boundary of said Opape 6D Block, the north-eastern boundaries of Opape Block 6E, a public road, Opape Blocks 6F, 6G, 6H, 6J 1, across the Opotiki–Matawai via Motu Main Highway No. 566, again by the north-eastern boundaries of Opape 6J 2 Block, across the Waiaua River, Opape 6K Block, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of aforesaid Opape 6K Block, the south-eastern boundary of Opape 6J 2 Block produced to the middle of a public road; thence in a north-westerly direction by the middle of the said public road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Allotment 271, Wai-oeka Parish, D.P. 5223 (Auckland); thence in a south-westerly direction, to and by the aforesaid south-eastern boundary of part Allotment 271 and the other part of Allotment 271, thence westerly by the southern boundary of Allotment 360, Wai-oeka Parish, across a public road, again by the aforesaid southern boundary of Allotment 360 produced to the middle of a public road; thence in a southerly direction generally by the middle of the aforesaid public road to a point in line with the most easterly corner of Section 3, Block VIII, Opotiki Survey District; again southerly generally to and by the eastern boundary of aforesaid Section 3, the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 4, Block VIII, Opotiki Survey District, the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 15744 (Auckland), the south-eastern boundary of part Section 342, Wai-oeka Parish, produced across a public road to the middle of the Otara River; thence in a south-easterly direction up the middle of the said Otara River to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Allotment 330, Wai-oeka Parish; thence south-westerly to and across a public road, to and by the south-eastern boundary of aforesaid Allotment 330, to its southernmost corner; thence in a north-westerly direction by the south-western boundaries of Allotments 330 and 329, Wai-oeka Parish, produced across the Tutaetoko Stream and a public road, the south-western boundary of Section 13, Block XII, Opotiki Survey District, produced to the middle of a public road; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the middle of the said public road which forms the south-eastern and southern boundaries of Allotments 138, 137, 136, 116, 115, 95, 84, 85, 82, 81, Wai-oeka Parish, the southern boundaries of the western part of Allotment 337B 6B, Wai-oeka Parish, again Allotment 81, Wai-oeka Parish, to the middle of the Whakatane–Gisborne via Wai-oeka State Highway No. 20; thence in a northerly direction by the middle of the said State highway to its intersection with the middle of a public road which forms the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4179 (Auckland); thence in a north-westerly direction generally by the middle of the aforesaid public road to and across the Wai-oeka River, again by the middle of a public road which forms the southern boundary of Allotments 497 and 399A, Waiotahi Parish, to the middle of Waiotahi Block Road in Block XI, Opotiki Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the middle of the said Waiotahi Block Road to its intersection with the northern boundary of Tahora 2B 2B 2 Block; thence due south by the eastern boundary lines of Blocks I, V, IX, and XIII, Wai-oeka Survey District, and Blocks I and V, Wai-oeka South Survey District, to its south-eastern corner; thence due east by the northern boundary lines of Blocks X and XI, Wai-oeka South Survey District, to its intersection with the middle of the Wai-oeka River; thence in a southerly direction generally up the middle of the aforesaid Wai-oeka River and the Koranga Stream to a point common to the Opotiki and Waikohu County boundaries, being a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block XV, Moanui Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction generally to and by the aforesaid north-western boundary of Section 3 and the north-western boundaries of Sections 6, 2, and 3, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, Section 4, part Sections 1 and 2, Block IX, and Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District, to Pokaikiri Trigonometrical Station; again in a north-easterly direction generally by the north-western boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 2185, situated in Block V, Motu Survey District, Lot 1, D.P. 3027, situated in Block VI, Motu Survey District, Motu 2B 6, and No. 1 Blocks, situated in Blocks VI and II, Motu Survey District, the western and north-western boundaries of Whakapaupakiki No. 2 Block, the north-western boundaries of Section 23, and Lot 1, of Section 24, Block II, Motu Survey District, to its intersection with the southern boundary of Section 3, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence by the southern boundary of the aforesaid Section 3 produced to the middle of the Pakihi Stream; thence down the middle of the Pakihi Stream to a point opposite the north-western corner of Section 4, Block III, Urutawa East Survey District; thence to and by the northern boundaries of Sections 4, 6, and 5, Block III, Urutawa Survey District, to the abutment of a public road; thence to and by the western and northern boundaries of Section 3, Block I, Urutawa East Survey District, to and across the Opotiki–Matawai via Motu Main Highway No. 566 to its eastern side; thence by the eastern side of that highway and the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block II, Urutawa East Survey District, to and across a public road to the most westerly corner of Section 5, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District; thence by the south-eastern side of a public road and the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Urutawa Survey District, to its intersection with the western boundary of Section 1, Block V, Otipi Survey District; thence by the western and northern boundaries of said Section 1 and the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block VI, Otipi Survey District, to and across a road reserve and the Motu River to its right bank; thence down the right bank of the Motu River to a point opposite the north-eastern boundary of a road reserve which forms parts of the south-western boundary of Kapuarangi No. 2 Block, in Block X, Waiaua East Survey District, being the point of commencement.
