the Minister of Internal Affairs, on the recommendation of
the Matakaoa County Council, hereby appoints the following
persons to be Councillors of the County of Matakaoa
to represent the riding set out opposite their respective names:

Members of Board of Trustees of the National Art Gallery
and Dominion Museum Appointed
PURSUANT to section 2 (1) (f) of the National Art Gallery and
Dominion Museum Amendment Act 1936, His Excellency the
Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Charles Alexander Fleming, B.A., D.SC., F.R.S.N.Z., and
Henry Charles McQueen, M.A., DIP.ED., DIP.SOC.SC.,
to be members of the Board of Trustees of the National Art
Gallery and Dominion Museum for a term of four years from
4 September 1956, as representing the Royal Society of New
Zealand.

Scheme of Control of Taita Post-primary School
PURSUANT to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the
Minister of Education hereby approves of Taita Post-primary
School being controlled in accordance with the Standard
Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published in the
Gazette on 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451:
Provided that:
(a) Clause 7 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
the words "Council of the nearest borough within five
miles of the school" were omitted, and the words
"Lower Hutt City Council" were substituted therefor:
(b) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
the words "Such election shall be held in the first
week of the month of May in the year 1929" were
omitted, and the words "The first such election shall
be held not later than the first week of the month
of May in the year 1957, and such an election shall
be held in the first week of the month of May in the
year 1959" were substituted therefor:
(c) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if the clause
set out in the Schedule hereto were inserted after
clause 13:
(d) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to
the year 1959:
(e) Clause 43 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
the words "The Secretary shall be insured under a
fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred
pounds" were omitted.
SCHEDULE
CLAUSE TO BE READ AS PART OF STANDARD SCHEME
"13A (1) In every case where any member is to be elected
by the members of the school committees of the public schools
to which paragraph (e) of clause 2 of the Taita Post-
primary School Board of Governors Order 1956 applies,
every such member shall be elected at a meeting of the
members of the school committees called for the purpose.
"(2) The first such election shall be held on a date to be
fixed by the Director of Education, and such an election shall
be held in the first week of the month of May in the year
1959 and in every alternate year thereafter, or as soon thereafter as may be convenient on a date to be fixed by the
Taita Post-primary School Board of Governors. For the purposes of the first such election, the Director of Education, or
a deputy appointed by him, shall be the returning officer, and
for all subsequent elections the secretary of the Board of
Governors shall be the returning officer.
"(3) The returning officer shall send to each member of the
aforesaid school committees, so as to reach him in the
ordinary course of post not later than five days before the
day on which any such election is to be held, a notification
of the day, hour, and place of the meeting at which the
election is to be held."
