Declaring Land Taken for a Government Work and Not Required for That Purpose to be Crown Land
Pursuant to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Works hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be deemed to have been Crown land for the purposes of the Land Act 1948 as from the 27th day of May 1954.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
Pursuant to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:
A motor driver's licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Revoking Part of a Warrant Excluding Streets from Limitation as to Speed and Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Transport Act 1949, Section 36
Pursuant to section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes that Warrant dated the 2nd day of November 1955* which applies to the area described in the First Schedule hereto, and hereby declares the area described in the Second Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality to the intent that a person driving any motor vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of 30 m.p.h. fixed by the said section.
FIRST SCHEDULE
Situated within Opunake Borough: New Plymouth-Hawera via Opunake State Highway No. 26 (all that portion commencing at the western boundary of Opunake Borough and terminating at the junction of the said State highway with Wilson Road; also all that portion commencing at a point 2 chains east of Aytoun Road and terminating at the eastern boundary of Opunake Borough).

Situated within Egmont County: All that area in the Taranaki Land District, Egmont County, bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Section 35, Block IX, Opunake Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly along the southern boundary of that section to the right bank of the Waiaua Stream; thence south-westerly along that bank to its intersection with the northern boundary of the New Plymouth-Hawera via Opunake State Highway No. 26; thence along that boundary in a westerly direction to a point 2 chains east of Aytoun Road; thence across the New Plymouth-Hawera via Opunake State Highway No. 26 to the southern boundary of that highway; thence along the said southern boundary in an easterly direction to its intersection with the right bank of the Waiaua Stream; thence south-westerly along that bank to the sea coast; thence north-westerly along the sea coast to the left bank of the Otahi Stream; thence north-easterly along that bank to the southern boundary of the New Plymouth-Hawera via Opunake State Highway No. 26; thence along that boundary in an easterly direction to its intersection with the western boundary of Wilson Road; thence across the New Plymouth-Hawera via Opunake State Highway No. 26 to the northern boundary of that highway; thence along the said northern boundary in a westerly direction to its intersection with the left bank of the Otahi Stream; thence north-easterly along the said bank to the point of commencement; as the said area is more particularly shown outlined in red on the plan marked TT. 1813 deposited in the office of the Transport Department, Wellington.

Special Order Made by the Wanganui County Council Altering Riding Boundaries and Adjusting Representation
Pursuant to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921-22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Wanganui County Council, and fixes the 1st day of October 1956 as the date from which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23 and 59 of the Counties Act 1920, the Wanganui County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:
"(1) The present division of the County of Wanganui into six ridings be revoked and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into seven ridings to be called respectively Mangawhero Riding, Morikau Riding, Mangamahu Riding, Kaukatea Riding, PΕ«rua Riding, Kaitoke Riding, Upokongaro Riding, which said ridings are described in the Schedule hereto.
"(2) The said Wanganui County Council shall consist of ten members, who shall be elected as follows:
"(a) The electors of the Mangawhero, Mangamahu, and PΕ«rua Ridings shall each elect two members.
"(b) The electors of the remaining four ridings, viz., Kaukatea, Kaitoke, Morikau, and Upokongaro, shall each elect one representative.
"(3) The alteration in the riding boundaries and representation of the Council shall come into force on and after the 1st day of October 1956, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for such election."
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Wanganui was hereunto affixed this 13th day of July 1956 in the presence of--
