Amending the Constitution of the Tuwharetoa Rural Fire District

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following order:

The Order in Council dated the 30th day of March 1949 and published in the Gazette, 13 April 1949, Vol. I, page 905, is hereby amended by omitting the Schedule to that Order in Council and substituting the Schedule set out in the Schedule to this Order in Council.

"SOUTH AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICTS—ROTORUA AND WELLINGTON CONSERVANCIES

"Tuwharetoa Rural Fire District

"ALL that area in Taumarunui and Taupo Counties, containing approximately 387,000 acres, situated in Puketapu, Karangahape, Pukawa, Piopiotea, Maungaku, Puketi, Pihanga, Waimanu, Tongariro, Tauhara, Tokaanu, Waitahanui, Marunanui, Omoho, Waiotaka, Kaimanawa, and Mangamaire Survey Districts, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north generally by permanent State forest land (Gazette, 1935, page 581), part of Waihaha No. 3 Block, and the Oruapuraho River; towards the east by the shores of Lake Taupo and the Tokaanu River to a point due west of Trig. Station E (Manganamu); towards the north by a right line bearing due east to the eastern side of the Tongariro Bridge—Waihi Pa Main Highway; towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of the said highway to the National Park—Taupo State Highway, and by the latter highway to the right bank of the Waikato River; towards the south-west by the Waikato River to Lake Taupo; towards the north-west by the shores of Lake Taupo, the Hinemaiai Stream, and the north-western side of the National Park—Taupo State Highway; towards the north-east by Tauhara South A Block; towards the south-east generally by Wharetoto Nos. 8 and B Blocks, Patehe Block, Kaimanawa Nos. 1c and 1e 2A Blocks, Section 1, Block XII, Waitahanui Survey District, Kaimanawa No. 1e 2c Block, Section 1, Block XI, Waitahanui Survey District, and Kaimanawa Nos. 1e 2E, 1e 2F, 1F 1 Blocks, and Tauranga Taupo No. 3B Block; towards the north-east by Tauranga-Taupo No. 3B 1A and 3B 2 Blocks; towards the south-east by a right line from Trig. Station 1123 ‘Ahipaepae’ to Trig. Station C ‘Ngapuketura’, and thence by Kaimanawa Nos. 2B and 2A Blocks; towards the south-west by Kaimanawa No. 3B 2B Block; towards the south-east and south by the Waipakihi River; towards the west by the right bank of the Waikato River to its confluence with the Poutu Stream; towards the south-east and south by the Poutu Stream and the southern shore of Roto Aira; towards the east by the Te One Stream; towards the south-west by the north-eastern side of the National Park—Taupo State Highway and the Roto Aira Road; towards the south-east by the north-western side of the said road; towards the south-west by the Otamangakau Stream; towards the south by the said stream and the Wanganui River; towards the north-west by the Taringapupu and Paewaru Streams and Hohotaka Nos. 2H 2 and 2E 3 Blocks; towards the west by a right line from the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned block and passing through Trig. Station 1707 ‘Ngapuketura’ to the southern boundary of Hauhanga-roa No. 8 Block; and towards the north-east and west by the last-mentioned block. As shown on plan No. 53/10 deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red."

Authorisation of Investment of £10,000 of the Wellington Harbour Board’s Funds

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 53 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Wellington Harbour Board to invest the sum of £10,000 from its general insurance funds in debentures of the Masterton Borough Council Waterworks and Sewerage Improvement Loan 1953, to bear interest at 4¾ per cent for a period of ten years from the 1st day of August 1956.

Constituting the West Otago Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 6128)

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby constitutes and declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection (1) of section 14 of the Rabbits Act 1955 applies, a rabbit district, and appoints that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the West Otago Rabbit District, and orders that the basis on which the rabbit board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of the land occupied by the ratepayer.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE WEST OTAGO RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and Tuapeka County containing 160,000 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: Commencing at the confluence of the Pomahaka and Waipahi Rivers; thence generally northerly along the right bank of the Pomahaka River to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Run 696, Wart Hill Survey District; thence generally south-easterly to and along the south-western boundary of Runs 696 and 698 to and across the Heriot—Roxburgh via Moa Flat Road; thence generally southerly along the eastern side of that road to its junction with the Moa Flat School Road; thence generally easterly and south-easterly along the northern and north-eastern side of the Moa Flat School Road to the north-western corner of Lot 9, Deposited Plan 1924; thence generally easterly along the northern boundary of Lots 9 and 8 and south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that Lot 8, Deposited Plan 1924, to its south-eastern corner; thence south-easterly to Trig. Station Spyław Hill and along the south-western boundaries of Sections 9 and 10, Block XVII, Crookston Survey District; thence across a road and southerly along the western boundary of Section 11; thence generally westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundaries of Section 13, southerly along the western boundary of Section 16, across a road, and along the western boundaries of Section 18, Block XVII, Section 15, Block XVI, across a road, and along the western boundary of Section 12, Block XVI, Crookston Survey District; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of the said Section 12 and Section 13, to and thence southerly and generally westerly along the eastern and southern boundary of Section 11, Block XVI, Crookston Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Block XIV to Trig. Station L; thence north-easterly to and along a ridge road to the eastern boundary of Block XIX, Crookston Survey District; thence southerly along that boundary and westerly along the southern boundary of that Block XIX for a distance of 1 mile; thence south-westerly along a straight line to Trig. Station U and along a straight line to the south-eastern corner of Block X, Crookston Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundary of the said Block X to the north-eastern corner of Block IX, Rankleburn Survey District; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of the said Block IX to the north-eastern corner of Block X, Rankleburn Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of that Block X, Rankleburn Survey District to the Rankleburn; thence generally southerly along the centre of the Rankleburn to its confluence with the Pomahaka River; thence generally south-westerly along the right bank of that river to the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 8 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs that the width of the proposed access way described in the Schedule hereto shall be for part of its length more than 12 ft., but not more than 19 ft.
