Authorising Douglas Scott, of Glenorchy, Sheep Farmer, and Jean Rooney, of Alexandra, Married Woman, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity and to Erect and Use Certain Electric Lines

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to Douglas Scott, of Glenorchy, Sheep Farmer, and Jean Rooney, of Alexandra, Married Woman (hereinafter referred to as the licensees), a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from the Precipice Creek (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated in Section 36, Block I, Glenorchy Survey District, in the County of Lake, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 1 cubic foot per second at any one time, and to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines hereinafter described.


CONDITIONS

IMPLIED CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water Power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS

  1. This licence is issued under the Water Power Regulations 1934, and is subject thereto, and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.

UTILISATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS

  1. Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of generating electricity, and shall be taken from the said stream at the point in Section 36, Block I, Glenorchy Survey District, indicated on the plan marked S.H.D. 399 deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

  1. The licensees are hereby authorised, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purpose of this licence, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan S.H.D. 399:

(a) Headworks consisting of a dam and intake, with a water race and pipeline leading to the powerhouse hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 175 ft.

(b) A Turgo wheel and powerhouse with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Section 36, Block I, Glenorchy Survey District.

(c) A tail race leading from the said powerhouse back to the said stream.

(d) Electric lines leading from the said powerhouse generally in a westerly direction across the said stream, the Glenorchy–Paradise road, and a telephone line to a pole situated in Section 13, Block I, Upper Wakatipu Survey District, and thence:

(1) In a northerly direction to a farmhouse situated in the said Section 13, and

(2) In a southerly direction to a married couple’s residence situated in the said Section 13.

The said lines and buildings being more particularly shown on the said plan S.H.D. 399.

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

  1. The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, and shall be an alternating-current system.

DURATION OF LICENCE

  1. Unless sooner lawfully determined, this licence shall continue in force until the 31st day of March 1977, or until electrical energy is available from an electric power board or some other public source of supply, whichever is the earlier.

RENTAL

  1. For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this licence, the licensees may install a suitable maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the State Hydro-electric Department, and, failing such installation, the rental shall be assessed on the maximum generating capacity of the plant installed. The present plant is rated at 13·75 kVA.

NO RIGHT TO WATER CONFERRED

  1. Nothing in this licence shall of itself confer upon the licensees any right to water.

Authorising Stafford Hartland Weatherall, of Omarama, Farmer, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity, and Revoking a Previous Licence

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to Stafford Hartland Weatherall, of Omarama, Farmer (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from the Maitland Stream (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated in Run 529, Hopkins Survey District, in the Land District of Otago, for the purposes hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 9 cubic feet per second at any one time; and further, hereby revokes the Order in Council dated the 15th day of February 1950, and published in the Gazette on the 23rd day of the same month, at page 192, authorising Stafford Hartland Weatherall, of Omarama, Farmer, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity.

  1. Unless sooner lawfully determined, this licence shall continue in force until the 31st day of March 1970.
