Approval of Testing Officer Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
Pursuant to regulation 5 of the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby approves of the person named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a testing officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in column 1 of the said Schedule.

Revocation of Appointments or Approvals to Issue Warrants of Fitness
Pursuant to regulation 11 of the Traffic Regulations 1936* and all other authorities enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes, as from 15 July 1956, all appointments or approvals for the issue of warrants of fitness for motor vehicles (other than appointments or approvals issued to officers of the Crown) heretofore made or given, as the case may be, in terms of the said regulation for any person or firm whose place of examination for the purpose of issue of warrants of fitness is situated within the area described in the Schedule hereto.

Road Closed in the District of Avarua, Rarotonga, Cook Islands
Pursuant to section 613 of the Cook Islands Act 1915, the Minister of Island Territories hereby proclaims as closed the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

All that parcel of land situated in the Tutakimoa Tapere, District of Avarua, in the Island of Rarotonga, containing 4 perches, more or less, being that part of the road known as Tutakimoa Road, delineated and coloured green on the plan signed by the Resident Commissioner of Rarotonga and deposited in the office of the Registrar of the High Court of the Cook Islands at Rarotonga under No. 62.

Given under the hand of the Minister of Island Territories, and issued under the Seal of the Cook Islands, this 12th day of June 1956.

Notice Under the National Savings Act 1940, Section 4
Pursuant to section 4 of the National Savings Act 1940, the Minister of Finance hereby prescribes that the seventeenth investment period shall run from 30 June 1956 to 30 June 1957.
The rate of interest to be paid on investments in an investment account during such investment period shall be 3½ per cent.
Moneys invested during such investment period by deposit in an investment account shall be repayable on the 30th day of June 1959.
Provided that where interest is not withdrawn in terms of section 8 (2) of the said Act and is added to the principal moneys of the investor, such amount of interest, together with interest thereon, shall be repayable on the 30th day of June 1957.

Notice Under the National Savings Act 1940, Section 5
Pursuant to section 5 of the National Savings Act 1940, the Minister of Finance hereby authorises the trustees of the under-mentioned savings banks (being savings banks constituted under the Trustee Savings Banks Act 1948) to receive investments by way of deposit in investment accounts under the National Savings Act 1940 during the investment period expiring on 30 June 1957.

Amending Open Season for Game in the Waitaki Acclimatisation District
Pursuant to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby amends the notice published in the Gazette, No. 19, dated 28 March 1956, at page 447, as follows:
By deleting from that part of the aforesaid notice which relates to the Waitaki Acclimatisation District the words “to 17 June incl.” where they appear under the heading “Duration of 1956 Season”, and substituting therefor the words “to 31 July incl.”

Special Order Made by Cook County Council Altering Riding Boundaries
Pursuant to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921–22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Cook County Council, and fixes the 8th day of October 1956 as the date on which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1920, the Cook County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows:
“1. The present division of the County of Cook into eleven ridings is revoked and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into twelve ridings to be called respectively Gisborne Riding, Muriwai Riding, Ormond Riding, Pakarae Riding, Patutahi Riding, Pouawa Riding, Taruheru Riding, Te Aroha Riding, Tiniroto Riding, Waimata Riding, Waingake Riding, and Whataupoko Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
“2. The said Cook County Council shall consist of twelve councillors and the electors of each of the twelve ridings named herein shall elect one councillor to the said council.
“3. The alterations hereby made shall take effect on a date to be fixed by the Minister of Internal Affairs.”
I hereby certify that the special order referred to herein was passed at a special meeting of the Cook County Council, held on 22 March 1956, and confirmed at the ordinary meeting of the said council held on 26 April 1956. I further certify that all the requirements of section 99 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 13 of the Counties Amendment Act 1949, have been complied with.

All that area in the Gisborne Land District and bounded as follows:
Commencing at a point in the middle of the Gisborne-Whakatane via Waioeka State Highway No. 20 at its junction with Farmers Road in Block II, Turanganui Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction by the middle of Farmers Road to its junction with Bushmere Road; in a north-westerly direction by the middle of the said Bushmere Road to its junction with Bloomfield Road; thence in a south-westerly direction by the middle of Bloomfield Road to a point opposite the south-west boundary of Lot 23, D.P. 712; thence north-westerly to and by the south-west boundary of Lots 23 and 24, D.P. 712, to the middle of the Waipaoa River; thence in a north-westerly direction generally by the middle of the said Waipaoa River to a point opposite the intersection of the middle line of Swathmore Road and a public road; thence westerly by a right line to the said intersection, in a southerly direction generally by the middle of Swathmore Road to its junction with the middle of the Gisborne-Napier via Hangaroa State Highway No. 25; thence in a westerly direction generally by the middle of the said State highway to a point in
