Classification of Roads in Rotorua County
PURSUANT to regulation 3 (7) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955, the Commissioner of Transport hereby approves the Rotorua County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in Rotorua County.

Revoking Declaration of Portions of Main Highway and Declaring Portions of Public Highway to be Main Highway
PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
- (1) The portions of public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.
(2) The Order in Council made on the 3rd day of March 1954* declaring (inter alia) the portions of highway described in First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequently amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portions of highway.

The portions of public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 18
All those portions of public highway in the County of Wallace declared as the Riverton-Otatau-Nightcaps Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 3 March 1954.*
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 18
RIVERTON–OTATAU–NIGHTCAPS—
All those portions of public highway in the County of Wallace commencing at its junction with the Lorne-Riverton State Highway near Riverton and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction via Fairfax to the southern boundary of the Otatau Town District, recommencing at its junction with the Argyle-Tuapere Main Highway at the south-eastern corner of Section 13, Block II, Apirima Hundred, thence proceeding in a northerly direction via Wairio, and terminating at the southern boundary of the Nightcaps Town District, being a distance of 25 miles 53 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 148285 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Revoking Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways
PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
- (1) The portions of public highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways.
(2) The Order in Council made on the 13th day of October 1930* declaring (inter alia) the portion of public highway firstly described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequently amended by revoking so much of the Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.
(3) The Order in Council made on the 8th day of April 1953† declaring (inter alia) the portion of public highway secondly described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequently amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.

The portions of public highways described in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15
All that portion of public highway in the County of Ashburton declared as the Beach Road–Hakatere Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 13 October 1930.*
All that portion of public highway in the County and Borough of Waimate declared as the Deep Creek–Kurow via Waimate Main Highway as described in Order-in-Council dated 8 April 1953†.
SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 15
BEACH ROAD–HAKATERE—
All that portion of public highway in the County of Ashburton commencing at its junction with the Ashburton–Wakanui Main Highway at the south-east corner of Res. 1420, Block II, Wakanui Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction via Wakanui School Road, Wilson’s Road, Fitzgerald’s Road, and River Road, and terminating at the south-west corner of E.S. 2102, Block X, Wakanui Survey District, being a distance of 6 miles 10 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 148077 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICTS Nos. 15 AND 16
DEEP CREEK–KUROW VIA WAIMATE—
All that portion of public highway in the Counties of Waimate and Waitaki, but excluding all that portion in the Borough of Waimate, commencing at its junction with the Timaru–Dunedin State Highway at the northern corner of Section 5730, Block XII, Waimate Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly and westerly direction via Waimate and Waihao Downs, and via Bedcliffe Road, main Waitaki Road, Hakarataramea River Bridge, and Waitaki River Bridge, and terminating at its junction with the Pukeuri–Kurow–Omarama Main Highway at Kurow, being a distance of 47 miles 35 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 148076 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Also all that portion of public highway in the Borough of Waimate commencing at the north-eastern boundary of the said borough and proceeding thence via Timaru Road, Queen Street, and Gorge Road, and terminating at the southern boundary of the said borough, being a distance of 1 mile 42 chains, more or less, as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 148076 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
