Board of Trade Notice No. 114—Public Inquiry into Import
Duties on Paper Seed Pockets and Greaseproof Paper

  1. (a) The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report
upon the question of what rates of import duty should be
imposed on the goods covered by the tariff items listed here-
    under:

Tariff item 294: Whole item.
Tariff item 295: Sub-item (2) only.

(b) The Board will also inquire into and report upon the
question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on
any materials used in the manufacture of the above goods.

(c) Persons interested may obtain from the office of any
Collector of Customs details of the goods admitted under
these tariff items, and of the rates of import duty applicable
thereto.

  1. During the course of this inquiry the Board will consider
the desirability of reclassifying the goods in question for the
purposes of the Customs Tariff. In addition, the Board will
consider whether such of the goods in question as are now
subject to import licensing should be exempted from such
requirements of import licensing, and in respect of such of
the goods in question as are already exempt whether import
licensing should be imposed in respect of any of them.

  2. For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of these
tariff items, the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing
on Tuesday, 14 February 1956, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board
Room, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street,

  4. A typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered
should be lodged with the undernamed on or before Tuesday,
31 January 1956. Each statement will in general need to be
