Consenting to Raising of Loans by Certain Local Authorities

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto by way of loan of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.

Authorizing the Timaru City Council to Erect and Use
Certain Electric Lines in the County of Levels and the
City of Timaru

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorizes the Timaru City Council (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines described in the Schedule hereto.

CONDITIONS

IMPLIED CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 and the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS

  1. The licence hereby conferred is subject to compliance by the licensee with the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and with all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

  1. The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (f) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935.

DURATION OF LICENCE

  1. This licence shall, unless sooner lawfully determined, continue in force until the 7th day of June 1965.

PURPOSE OF LINES

  1. The lines hereby authorized shall not be used by the licensee for the purpose of supply to any consumer outside the licensee’s area of supply as at present defined.

SCHEDULE

LINES for the transmission of electrical energy by the system of supply hereinbefore described leading from the State Hydro-electric Department’s Timaru Substation in a south-westerly direction to and along the north-western side of Old North Road to its junction with Selwyn Street; thence south-easterly along both sides of Selwyn Street to the northern boundary of the licensee’s area of supply as at present defined, the said lines being situated partly within the County of Levels and partly within the City of Timaru. As the said lines are more particularly shown by means of unbroken red lines on the plan marked S.H.D. 340 deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.

Counties of Stratford and Whangamomona United

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 2nd day of November 1955

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, the Local Government Commission has approved as final a scheme bearing date the 2nd day of August 1955 providing for the union of the Counties of Whangamomona and Stratford and making supplementary provisions incidental thereto:

And whereas it is deemed expedient to give effect to the final scheme as hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

  1. That the Counties of Whangamomona and Stratford are hereby united to form one county under the name of the County of Stratford (hereinafter referred to as the united County).

  2. That the united County is hereby divided into seven ridings to be known respectively as the North, South, East, West, Mangaehu, Ngatimaru and Whangamomona Ridings.

  3. That the boundaries of the North, South, East, West, Mangaehu, and Ngatimaru Ridings of the united County shall be the same as the respective boundaries of the North, South, East, West, Mangaehu, and Ngatimaru Ridings of the former County of Stratford, and the boundaries of the Whangamomona Riding of the united County shall be the same as the boundaries of the former County of Whangamomona.

  4. That the number of members of the Council of the united County shall be twelve to be elected as follows:

For the North Riding …… 2 members.
For the South Riding …… 2 members.
For the East Riding …… 2 members.
For the West Riding …… 2 members.
For the Whangamomona Riding …… 2 members.
For the Mangaehu Riding …… 1 member.
For the Ngatimaru Riding …… 1 member.

  1. That the first election of members of the Council of the united County shall be held on the day fixed by law for the next triennial general elections of members of county councils.

  2. That until the members elected at the first election of members of the Council of the united County come into office the Council of the united County shall consist of the members of the Council of the former County of Stratford together with two members of the Council of the former County of Whangamomona to be chosen by that Council, and for the purpose of making that choice, but for no other purpose, the Whangamomona County Council shall continue in office.

  3. That, subject as otherwise provided herein, the said union shall be deemed to have been effected under the Counties Act 1920.
