Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the County of Kaitieke
(Notice No. Ag. 5985)

P
URSUANT to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, and acting
under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for
the purposes of the said Act, the Acting Director-General of
Agriculture hereby publishes the following Special Order made
by the Kaitieke County Council on the 10th day of October
1955.

SPECIAL ORDER

That in pursuance and exercise of the powers and provisions of
section 5 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, and amendments
thereto, the Kaitieke County Council hereby resolves by way of
Special Order as follows:

‘That these plants be declared as noxious weeds in the
County of Kaitieke:

Barberry (Berberis vulgaris).
Bathurst bur (Xanthium spinosum).
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus luciniatus).
Gorse (Ulex, any species).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).
Milk thistle or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum).
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).
Sweethrier (Rosa eglanteria syn. Rosa rubiginosa).
Montpelier broom (Cytisus monspessulanus).
Wild teasel (Dipsacus sylvestris).
Common broom (Cytisus scoparius).

Notifying Wilderness Area—Arthur Pass National Park

OTICE is hereby given that the Arthur Pass National
Park Board, in terms of section 34 of the National
Parks Act 1952, has by resolution dated 16 May 1955, set
apart as a wilderness area that part of the Arthur Pass
National Park containing 29,900 acres, more or less, and being
all that area in the Westland Land District, being part
Reserve 1065, situated in Blocks VII, VIII, XI, XII, XV,
and XVI, Otira Survey District, Blocks II, III, V, VI, VII,
and IX, Taramakau Survey District, Blocks III and IV,
Arthur Pass Survey District, and bounded as follows: Com-
mencing at the junction of the Main Divide (between the
Canterbury and Westland Land Districts) and the Aicken
Range; thence northerly along the summit of the Aicken
Range to the edge of the bush on the south bank of the Tara-
akau River; thence easterly along the bush edge on the
south bank of that river to Harper Pass on the Main Divide
aforesaid; thence southerly along the summit of the Main
Divide to the point of commencement. As shown on the plan
marked L. and S. 4/653A deposited in the Head Office, Depart-
ment of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon edged
yellow.

The wilderness area will be subject to the conditions imposed
by section 34 of the National Parks Act 1952, and to the
Arthur Pass National Park By-laws.
