NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LANDS

Waipaoa River Flood Control Scheme

NOTICE is hereby given that the Poverty Bay Catchment Board, acting under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928 and the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941, proposes to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto for a public work, namely, for river control purposes.

Notice is further given that plans of the lands required to be taken are deposited in the office of the Board at 16 Childers Road, Gisborne, and are open for inspection by all persons during office hours.

All persons affected by the taking of such lands or by the execution of such public works who have any well-founded ground of objection thereto must state their objection in writing, and deliver the same to the Secretary of the Poverty Bay Catchment Board at the Board’s Offices within forty days from the first publication of this notice.

APPLICATION FOR LICENCE FOR A WATER RACE

UNDER THE MINING ACT 1926

NOTICE is hereby given that ALLAN STUART JOLLY, of Tarras, Farmer, will apply to the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Cromwell at 10 o’clock in the forenoon on Wednesday the 9th day of November 1955 for a licence for a water race to divert one head of water from Shepherd’s Creek, Bendigo, a tributary of the Lindis River, for irrigation and general farm purposes.

Objections must be filed in the office of the Mining Registrar, Cromwell, and notified to applicant, whose address for service is at the office of Messrs Brodrick and Parcell, Solicitors, Melmore Street, Cromwell, at least three days before the above-mentioned time of hearing.

HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Paraparaumu War Memorial Hall and Arawhata Road Loan 1954

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, the Hutt County Council hereby resolves as follows:

“That, for the purpose of providing the principal, interest, and other charges on a loan of £10,000 authorized to be raised by the Hutt County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of meeting part of the cost of constructing the Paraparaumu War Memorial Hall and the cost of the formation of Arawhata Road, the said Hutt County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one halfpenny in the pound (½d. in the £) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Whareroa Riding of the County of Hutt; such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The foregoing resolution was passed at an ordinary meeting of the Hutt County Council held on the 25th day of August 1955.

HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Plant and Depot Loan 1955

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, the Hutt County Council hereby resolves as follows:

“That, for the purpose of providing the principal, interest, and other charges on a loan of £18,000 authorized to be raised by the Hutt County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of purchasing trucks and road machinery, and constructing a plan depot at Paraparaumu, the said Hutt County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of fourteen/one-hundredths of a penny in the pound (14/100d. in the £) on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the County of Hutt; such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The foregoing resolution was passed at an ordinary meeting of the Hutt County Council held on the 25th day of August 1955.

NOTICE is hereby given of the following resolution of the above company duly passed on the 8th day of October 1955:

“That the company be wound up voluntarily, and that John Clemon Tilyard, of Chambers Street, Havlock North, Company Director, be and he is hereby appointed liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”

MEETING OF CREDITORS

NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of creditors of the Waiatara Sawmilling Company Limited will be held in the Borough Council Chambers, Te Kuiti, on Thursday, 27 October 1955, at 1 p.m., being immediately after a meeting of the shareholders of the above company at which it is proposed to pass the following extraordinary resolution:

“That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business and that it be wound up voluntarily.”

MANIOTOTO COUNTY COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

County Chambers Loan 1955, £2,500

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926, the Maniototo County Council hereby resolves as follows:

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of principal, interest, and other charges on the loan of £2,500 authorized to be raised by the Maniototo County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of renovating the County Chambers, and extending the same, the said Maniototo County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0·045 of a penny in the pound (being the capital value) of all rateable property in the Maniototo County, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan to be payable yearly on the 15th day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen (15) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Maniototo County Council held on the 23rd day of September 1955.
