Directing the Sale of Land in the City of Wellington

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 17th day of August 1955

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was taken.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land directed to be sold: 2 roods 16·1 perches.

Being part Lots 238 and 240, D.P. 171, being part Section 3, Town District.

Situated in Block XI, Port Nicholson Survey District, City of Wellington. (S.O. 23405.)

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 147467 deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Housing Amendment Act 1940, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders and declares that the access ways described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington and be under the control and management of the Wellington City Council.

Declaring Te Anau Township Roads in the Wallace County to be County Roads

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 17th day of August 1955

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 112 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders and declares that the portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.

SCHEDULE

ALL those portions of roads in the Southland Land District, Wallace County, known as all of Mauru Street from Te Anau Terrace to the eastern side of Maota Street, a distance of 23½ chains, part of Matai Street from Te Anau Terrace to Maota Street, a distance of 28½ chains, all of Mahuri Street from Mokonui Street to Maota Street, a distance of 20 chains, all of Mahana Street from its junction with Matai Street to its other junction with Matai Street, a distance of 28 chains, part of Maota Street from Mauru Street to the southern side of Mahuri Street, a distance of 22 chains, all of Manuka Street from Matai Street to Mahuri Street, a distance of 5 chains, part of Mokonui Street from Mauru Street to Mahanga Street (Lumsden—Te Anau—Milford Sound Main Highway), a distance of 37½ chains.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 147072 deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Extending Period Within Which the Commission Appointed to Inquire Into and Report Upon Certain Alleged Nuisances in the Auckland Area Shall Report

To all to whom these presents shall come and to:

STANLEY MORELL MACALISTER, Esquire, Barrister;
DONALD FREDERICK SANDYS WUNSCH, Esquire, Chemical Engineer; and
FREDERICK SELWYN DYSON, Esquire, Civil Engineer.

Greeting:

WHEREAS pursuant to the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908 you, the said Stanley Morell Macalister, Donald Frederick Sandys Wunsch, and Frederick Selwyn Dyson were appointed, on the 18th day of May 1955, to be a Commission to inquire into and report upon certain conditions in the atmosphere of the Boroughs of Otahuhu, Onehunga, One Tree Hill, and Mount Wellington, and the Mangere Riding of the Manukau County:

And whereas it is expedient that the time for so reporting should be extended:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby extend until the 1st day of September 1955 the time within which you are so required to report:

And I hereby confirm the said Commission save as modified by these present.

Given in Executive Council under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 17th day of August 1955.

Officers of the Police Force Appointed

PURSUANT to section 5 of the Police Force Act 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

Inspector William Carran,

to be a Superintendent.

Sub-Inspector Patrick Kearney,
Sub-Inspector Michael Conway, and
Sub-Inspector Francis John Brady

to be Inspectors in the New Zealand Police Force from the 21st day of July 1955.

Member of Wanganui Port Conciliation Committee Appointed

PURSUANT to the Waterfront Industry Act 1953, the Minister of Labour hereby appoints

Harold Bramley (nominated by Wanganui Waterside Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers)

to be a member of the Port Conciliation Committee for the Port of Wanganui for a term expiring on the 28th day of February 1956, vice Graham Alexander McCormick.
