Holms, at Waimahaka, on Friday, the 19th day of August 1955, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of receiving and considering the accounts of the liquidator setting out the winding-up of the company and distribution of its assets.

IN LIQUIDATION

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company duly convened and held on the 18th day of July 1955, the following special resolution was duly passed:

‘‘Resolved, that as the company by reason of its liabilities cannot continue its business and it is advisable to wind up the same, the company go into voluntary liquidation forthwith, and that Mr Noel Barclay, of Auckland, Public Accountant, be appointed liquidator.’’

I hereby fix the 22nd day of August 1955 as the day on or before which the creditors of the company are to prove their debts or claims, and to establish any title they may have to priority under section 258 of the Companies Act 1933, or to be excluded from the benefit of any distribution made before such debts are proved, or as the case may be, from objecting to such distribution.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company duly convened and held on the 9th day of July 1955, the following extraordinary resolution was passed:

‘‘1. That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business and that it is advisable to wind up and that the company be wound up voluntarily.

‘‘2. That, in pursuance of section 235 of the Companies Act 1933, Mr J. E. Hammond, of Te Awamutu, be and he is hereby nominated as liquidator of the company.’’

Annual Statement

I, SAMUEL JACKSON HANNA, Trust Manager, do solemnly and sincerely declare:

  1. That the liability of the members is limited.
  2. That the capital of the company is £1,500,000, divided into 1,500,000 shares of £1 each.
  3. That the number of shares issued is 1,500,000.
  4. That calls to the amount of £1 per share have been made under which the sum of £1,500,000 has been received.
  5. That the amount of all moneys received on account of estates is £48,790,615 19s. 11d.
  6. That the amount of all moneys paid on account of estates is £48,490,334 19s. 3d.
  7. That the amount of the balance held to the credit of estates under administration in the Company’s Trust Bank Accounts is £300,281 0s. 8d.
  8. That the liabilities of the company at the close of its financial year (to wit, the 31st day of May 1955) were: Debts owing to sundry persons by the company, viz.: On judgment, nil; on specialty, nil; on notes or bills, nil; on simple contracts, £290,087; on estimated liabilities, £3,038,568.
  9. That the assets of the company on that date were: Government securities (N.Z.), £710,720; Government securities (British and British Dependencies), £2,540,778; bills of exchange and promissory notes, nil; cash at bankers and in hand, £1,126,539; other securities, £9,036,710.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Justices of the Peace Act 1927.

WHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Sewerage Loan 1954, £162,000

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, the Whakatane Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of providing sewerage reticulation of the Borough of Whakatane, meeting the cost of pumping stations, general sewerage plant and equipment, engineering fees and contingencies, hereby makes and levies a special rate of two and six-tenths pence (2·6d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Whakatane, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed by the Whakatane Borough Council at a special meeting held on the 9th day of May 1955.

BLENHEIM BOROUGH COUNCIL

THE PUBLIC WORKS AMENDMENT ACT 1952

WHEREAS by Proclamation bearing date the 1st day of November 1897, the land described below following a memorial presented by the Blenheim Borough Council under the Public Works Act 1894, was, with other land, set apart for the purpose of river protection works; and whereas it is desired that the said purpose should be changed and the said land described below should now be set apart for the provision of workers’ dwellings, notice is hereby given to all persons affected by the said change to set forth in writing any objection to the proposed change of purpose. and to send the written objection to the Blenheim Borough Council within forty days from the 19th day of July 1955.

LAND AFFECTED

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing 1 acre 1 rood 29 perches, being part of Section 6, District of Omaka, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 5, folio 144, Marlborough Registry.

TARARUA ELECTRIC POWER BOARD

LOST DEBENTURES

PUBLIC notice is herein given that five (5) bearer debentures each of £100, bearing date the 15th day of October 1954, and numbered seven (7) to eleven (11) consecutively, each debenture being complete with twenty (20) half-yearly interest coupons, numbered one (1) to twenty (20) consecutively, the first of each of the series valued at one pound sixteen shillings and elevenpence (£1 16s. 11d.) and the remainder valued at two pounds (£2), having been issued by the said Tararua Electric Power Board in connection with its Inner Area Loan 1954, of £7,000, have been declared missing (believed burnt) and are hereby declared cancelled. Now, therefore, public notice is herein given that it is the intention of the Tararua Electric Power Board to issue duplicate debentures in substitution for those declared burnt at the expiration of thirty days from the publication of this notice.

RESCISSION OF RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Special Loan 1954, £70,000

NOTICE is hereby given that at a meeting of the Central Waikato Electric Power Board held on the 20th day of July 1955, the following resolution rescinding the previous resolution of the Board making a special rate in respect of the above-mentioned loan, was passed:

‘‘That the Board’s resolution passed on the 16th day of February 1955 making a special rate for the purpose of securing the payment of principal, interest, and other charges on the Central Waikato Electric Power Board’s Special Loan 1954, of £70,000, authorized to be raised by the said Board for the purpose of financing extensions and improvements to the Board’s reticulation system and notice of which was published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 13, dated the 24th day of February 1955 at page 304, be and is hereby rescinded.’’
