All persons who wish to be heard in support of or objection
to any objection shall notify the Town Board accordingly at
least three days before that date.
The following is a summary of the subject matters of
objections received by the Town Board:
(1) That land fronting the eastern side of Bay of Islands
Road adjoining the Whangarei Borough boundary has been
wrongly classified as a special residential district.
(2) That Lot 1, part Allotments 50 and 50B, Parish of
Whangarei, adjoining the railway, has been wrongly classified
for residential purposes, and should be re-classified for indus-
trial purposes.
(3) That the proposed road shown parallel to and im-
mediately east of the railway, which passes through property
owned by the State Mines Department, and more particularly
through the head works at the mouth of the State Coal Mine,
together with other proposed roads and the zoning of land
owned by the Crown for residential purposes in which there
are mineral rights, would seriously interfere with the
extraction of coal.
(4) That the level crossing of the railway line by the pro-
posed road at approximately 131 miles 44 chains is not accept-
able to the Railway Department, and that the proposed crossing
would have to be by overhead bridge constructed at the expense
of the Town Board.
(5) That the proposed restricted industrial zone adjoining
the Otangarei Housing Block is likely to affect the value of the
adjoining land to be developed by the Housing Department
for residential purposes.
(6) That objection is made to the proposed through-road
shown parallel to and immediately east of the railway insofar
as it purports to be a proposed main highway or State highway.
(7) That the scheme fails to provide for the widening of
State Highway No. 1 by equal widths on both sides so as to
provide a minimum overall width of 1½ chains throughout the
Town District.
(8) That satisfactory provision for public works within the
framework of the scheme has not been made and that Ordin-
ance 6 (3) of the Fourth Schedule to the Town and Country
Planning Regulations 1954 should be included in Part II of the
scheme clauses.
R. WHITE LAW, Town Clerk.
