Boundaries of Counties of Wairoa and Cook Altered

THE RIGHT HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 14 of the Counties Act 1920, a resolution proposing certain alterations to the boundaries of the County of Wairoa and the County of Cook was passed by the Council of each of the said Counties:
And whereas, pursuant to section 24 of the Local Government Commission Act 1946, these proposals were referred to the Local Government Commission:
And whereas, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, the Local Government Commission has approved as final a scheme bearing date the 11th day of August 1954, providing for the exclusion of the areas described in the First Schedule to the said scheme from the County of Cook and the inclusion of those areas in the County of Wairoa, and providing also for the exclusion of the areas described in the Second Schedule to the said scheme from the County of Wairoa and the inclusion of those areas in the County of Cook:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to give effect to the final scheme as hereinafter appearing:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

That as on and from the 1st day of April 1955 the areas described in the First Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Cook and included in the County of Wairoa:

That as on and from the date aforesaid the areas described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Wairoa and included in the County of Cook:

That the boundaries of the Counties of Wairoa and Cook as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Third Schedule hereto:

That the areas added as aforesaid to the County of Wairoa shall be included in the Ruakituri, Tuhars, and Nuhaka Ridings of that County; and that the boundaries of the Ruakituri, Tuhars, and Nuhaka Ridings as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Fourth Schedule hereto:

That the areas added as aforesaid to the County of Cook shall be included in the Waingake and Muriwai Ridings of that County, and that the boundaries of the Waingake and Muriwai Ridings as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Fifth Schedule hereto:

That the alteration of boundaries of the said counties hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Counties Act 1920.

FIRST SCHEDULE
AREAS EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF COOK AND INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY OF WAIROA
ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, being portion of the Tinoroto Riding of the Cook County, containing 3,976 acres 3 roods 5·9 perches, more or less, bounded as follows: commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 11, Block IX, Hangaroa Survey District, being a point on the Cook County boundary hereinafter described; thence proceeding northerly generally by the eastern boundary of the said Section 11 to and across the Bushy Knoll Road; thence again northerly and westerly by the eastern and northern boundaries of the said Bushy Knoll Road and Section 10, Block IX, Hangaroa Survey District, to a point on the eastern side of the Bushy Knoll Road being a point on the Cook County boundary aforesaid and thence southerly and easterly generally by the county boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435, to the south-eastern corner of Section 11, Block IX, Hangaroa Survey District, being the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Gisborne Land District, being portion of the Waingake Riding of the Cook County, containing 1,220 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: commencing at a point being the intersection of the northern boundary of Mangapoike 2r Block in Block VIII, Opoti Survey District, and the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence proceeding by the northern boundary of the said Mangapoike 2r Block to connecting point F4, M.L. Plan 1628b; thence north-westerly by a right line to connecting point K, M.L. Plan 1628b, being a point on the southern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 1881, Gisborne Registry, thence south-westerly along the southern boundary of the said Lot 1 to its southernmost corner, being a point on the Cook County boundary aforesaid; thence south-westerly and south-easterly by the said county boundary to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Gisborne Land District, being portion of the Waingake Riding of the Cook County, containing 625 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: commencing at a point in Block VIII, Opoti Survey District, where the middle line of the Mangarangiora Stream intersects the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence proceeding north-westerly generally along the middle of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Mangapoike 2r Block; thence south-westerly to and by the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection with the said Cook County boundary; thence south-easterly by that county boundary to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Gisborne Land District, being portion of the Waingake Riding of the Cook County, containing 653 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: commencing at a point being the intersection of the western boundary of Section 1, Block V, Nuhaka North Survey District, with the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence proceeding northerly and easterly by the western and northern boundaries of the aforesaid Section 1 to the south-western corner of part Mangapoike B Block; thence northerly by the western boundary of the said part Mangapoike B Block to and across a public road and again by the western boundary of part Mangapoike B Block produced to the middle of the Mangapoike River; thence south-westerly by the middle of that river to its intersection with the Cook County boundary aforesaid mentioned; thence south-easterly generally by that boundary to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, being portion of the Waingake Riding of the Cook County, containing 6,431 acres 3 roods 29 perches, more or less, and bounded as follows: commencing at a point being the intersection of the western boundary of part Lot 6, D.P. 1026, in Block XII, Nuhaka North Survey District, with the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence proceeding north-westerly generally by the western boundary of part Lot 6, D.P. 1026, and the south-western boundary of part Lot 1, D.P.’s 2313–4–5, to and across the Gisborne–Wairoa via Morere State Highway No. 40; thence south-westerly generally by the north-western side of the said State highway to its intersection with the south-western boundary of Section 4, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence north-westerly generally by that boundary to its intersection with the Tokonui Tarewa Road; thence northerly generally by the eastern side of the said Tokonui Tarewa Road produced to the middle of the Nuhaka River; thence northerly generally by the middle of that river to its confluence with the Puninga and Uriroa Streams; thence northerly again by the middle of the Puninga Stream to its intersection with the south-western boundary of part Okahu Block; thence north-westerly by the south-western boundaries of the said part Okahu Block and of Maraeataha 2C Block to and across a public road; again by the south-western boundary of the said Maraeataha 2C Block, Section 3a, Block VII, Nuhaka North Survey District, and again by the south-western boundary of Maraeataha 2C Block to its intersection with the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VI, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence south-westerly and north-easterly generally by the south-eastern and north-western boundaries of the said Section 1 to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of part Maraeataha 2c Block; thence north-westerly by that boundary and the south-western boundaries of part Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 2796, to Trigonometrical Station J (Pukehoe) at the north-eastern corner of part Nuhaka 2a 2a 2 Block; thence south-westerly generally by the south-eastern boundary of the said part Nuhaka 2a 2a 2 Block to Trigonometrical Station FX (Pukerouni) being a point on the eastern boundary of S.G.R. 76A; thence south-easterly by the north-eastern boundary of the other part of Nuhaka 2a 2a 2 Block to its intersection with the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence south-easterly generally by that county boundary to its intersection with the western boundary of part Lot 6, D.P. 1026, in Block XII, Nuhaka North Survey District, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE
AREAS EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF WAIROA AND INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY OF COOK
ALL that area in the Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts, being portion of the Nuhaka Riding of the Wairoa County, containing 2,847 acres 0 roods 3 perches, more or less, bounded as follows: commencing at a point being the intersection of the south-western boundary of S.G.R. 40 in Block VI, Nuhaka North Survey District, with the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence south-easterly by the south-western boundary of S.G.R. 40 to the north-east corner of Nuhaka 2b 2a 1 Block; thence westerly and southerly by the northern and western boundaries of Nuhaka 2b 2a 1 and 2b 2r Blocks to the north side of a public road; thence westerly generally by the north side of that road to its intersection with the eastern boundary of Lot 2 and Lot 1, D.P. 1401, to its intersection with the Cook County boundary aforesaid; thence south-easterly generally by that boundary to its intersection with the south-western boundary of S.G.R. 40, the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Gisborne Land District, being portion of the Mahia Riding of the Wairoa County, containing 4,252 acres 0 roods 2 perches, more or less, and bounded as follows: commencing at a point in Block XIII, Paritu Survey District, at the mean high water mark of the sea at Paritu, a point on the Cook County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1951, page 435; thence
