A PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to section 29 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1948, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim as closed the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road closed: 4·98 perches. Being part Wynyard Street adjoining Sections 1292R, and part 5, Block XIII, and railway land.

Situated in the Town of Kurow, Otago R.D. (S.O. 11875.) In the Otago Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 145839 deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 2nd day of March 1955.

Waimumu Stream Drainage District Abolished

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 8th day of March 1955

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

Whereas, pursuant to section 15 of the Local Government Commission Act 1953, the Southland County Council, acting in its capacity as the Waimumu Stream Drainage Board, requested the Local Government Commission to consider a proposal that a reorganization scheme should be prepared to provide for the abolition of the Waimumu Stream Drainage District:

And whereas the Local Government Commission has considered the said proposal and has approved as final a scheme bearing date the 23rd day of December 1954, providing for the abolition of the Waimumu Stream Drainage District and making supplementary provision incidental thereto:

And whereas it is deemed expedient to give effect to the final scheme as hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders and declares:

  1. That as on and from the 1st day of April 1955, the Waimumu Stream Drainage District shall be abolished and the Waimumu Stream Drainage Board shall be dissolved.

  2. That all the property, debts, liabilities, and engagements of the Waimumu Stream Drainage Board shall, on the date aforesaid, vest in and become the property, debts, liabilities, and engagements of the Corporation of the County of Southland.

  3. That, subject as otherwise provided herein, the abolition of the Waimumu Stream Drainage District shall be deemed to have been effected under the Land Drainage Act 1908.
