Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs hereby varies a notice dated 16 December 1947 and published in New Zealand Gazette on 8 January 1948, at page 11, declaring parts of tribal districts to be tribal committee areas under the said Act by deleting from the Schedule thereto the descriptions of the tribal committee areas of the Tamatera, Ngati Paoa, and Ngati Maru Tribal Districts, and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule hereto.

HAURAKI TRIBAL DISTRICT
Ngati Maru Tribal Committee
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waikawau River in Block IV, Hastings Survey District; thence southerly generally along the sea coast to the northern boundary of the Borough of Thames as described in the New Zealand Statutes 1918, page 267; thence along the northern, western, and southern boundaries of the Borough of Thames to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with the north-western boundary of Section 3 of Block VII, Thames Survey District; thence south-westerly along the last-mentioned boundary and its production to the middle of the Waihou River; thence up the middle of the Waihou River to its confluence with the Hikutai River in Block VIII, Waihou Survey District; thence easterly generally up the middle of that river to its intersection with the production of the eastern boundary of Hikutai No. 1B 1A Block in Block V, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence northerly to and along the said eastern boundary to the north-eastern corner of Hikutai No. 1B 1A Block, along a right line to Trig. All that area bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Waihou and Hikutaia Rivers in Block VIII, Waihou Survey District; thence proceeding up the middle of the Hikutaia River to its intersection with the production of the eastern boundary of Hikutaia No. 1B 1A Block in Block V, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station 1862, and along a right line to the confluence of the Ohinemuri River and the Waitawheta Stream in Block I, Aroha Survey District; thence down the middle of the Ohinemuri River to its intersection with the middle of the Paeroa–Te Aroha Main Highway; thence south-westerly along the middle of that highway to its junction with Mill Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of Mill Road and its production to the middle of the Waihou River; thence down the middle of that river, the middle of the Ngahina Canal, and again the middle of the Waihou River to its confluence with the Hikutaia River, being the point of commencement.

Ngatitokanui Tribal Committee
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station 63 (Karangahake) in Block I, Aroha Survey District; thence proceeding north-westerly along a right line to the junction of Cadman Road with the Paeroa–Te Aroha Main Highway; thence north-easterly along the middle of the said highway to its intersection with the middle of the Ohinemuri River; thence up the middle of the Ohinemuri River to its confluence with the Waitawheta Stream; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station 63, the point of commencement.

Ngatihako Tribal Committee
All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Awaiti Canal at its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of Awaiti No. 1J 2A 1 Block in Block XV, Waihou Survey District; thence easterly generally along the said south-eastern boundary, across a public road and the southern side of Pukahu Road and its production to the middle of the Waihou River; thence up the middle of the Waihou River to a point in line with the middle of Mill Road in Block XVI, Waihou Survey District; thence to and along the middle of Mill Road to its junction with the Paeroa–Te Aroha Main Highway; thence along the said highway to its junction with Cadman Road; thence south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 63 (Karangahake); thence southerly along a right line to Trig.
