APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE FOR A WATER-RACE

WE, IVAN SMITH NICOLSON and ALEXANDER WILLIAM
NICOLSON, both of Poolburn, Farmers, hereby give
notice that we have applied for a licence for a water-race to
divert & head of water for purposes of a supply for irrigation
and watering stock from any one of eight points in the
Poolburn Creek in our property, being Section 3, Block XI,
Poolburn District, such points being more particularly shown
on a plan filed with the said application, the water applied for
to be drawn by means of a portable pumping plant and
conveyed in a pipe line to portions of said Section 3.
The application and all objections thereto will be heard
on Wednesday, 8 December 1954, at 10 a.m., at the Warden's
Court at Cromwell, and all objections must by filed in the
Registrar's office and notified to us or our solicitors at least
three days before the time so appointed.

HAVELOCK NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies'
Loans Act 1926, the Havelock North Borough Council
hereby resolves as follows:

'That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of four thousand pounds (£4,000),
authorized to be raised by the Havelock North Borough
Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of
erecting a bridge in Te Aute Road over the Mangarau Stream,
the Havelock North Borough Council hereby makes and levies
a special rate of 0.17 pence in the pound upon the rateable
unimproved value of all rateable property in the Borough
of Havelock North, and that such special rate shall be an
annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and
be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every
year during the currency of such loan, being a period of
twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid off.'

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at a
meeting of the Havelock North Borough Council held on the
23rd day of September 1954.

WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL
SECURITY RATES

(a) Fendalton Works Loan 1954, of £54,000
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the Waimairi
County Council hereby resolves as follows:

'That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £54,000, to be known as the Fendalton
Works Loan 1954, authorized to be raised by the Waimairi
County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose
of constructing kerbing and channelling, footpaths, and
other road works, including road widening and extending
existing seal on roads, the said Waimairi County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0.268606 pence in
the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable
property of the special rating area, comprising the Fendalton
Riding of the Waimairi County, and that such special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such
loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each
year and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.'

(b) Middleton Works Loan 1954, of £25,000
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the Waimairi
County Council hereby resolves as follows:

'That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £25,000, to be known as the Middleton
Works Loan 1954, authorized to be raised by the Waimairi
County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose
of constructing kerbing and channelling, footpaths, and
other road works, including road widening and extending
existing seal on roads, the said Waimairi County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0.361427 pence in
the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property
of the special rating area, comprising the Middleton Riding
of the Waimairi County, and that such special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such
loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each
year and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.'

(c) Wairarapa Works Loan 1954, of £27,500
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the Waimairi
County Council hereby resolves as follows:

'That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £27,500, to be known as the Wairarapa
Works Loan 1954, authorized to be raised by the Waimairi
County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the
purpose of constructing kerbing and channelling, footpaths,
and other road works, including road widening and extending
existing seal on roads, the said Waimairi County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0.336860 pence in
the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property
of the special rating area, comprising the Wairarapa Riding
of the Waimairi County, and that such special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such
loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each
year and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.'

BULLER ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the
Buller Electric Power Board hereby resolves as follows:

'That, for the purpose of providing principal, interest, and
other charges of the Loan of £5,000, authorized to be raised
by the Buller Electric Power Board under the above-mentioned
Act, for the purposes of the construction of new works and
lines and increase in capacity of existing lines as apart from
Karamea, the said Buller Electric Power Board hereby raises
and levies a special rate of one penny and decimal four one
of a penny (1.41d.) in the pound upon the rateable value
(on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property
of the Buller Electric Power Board District, comprising part
of the County of Buller and the whole of the Borough of
Westport; and that such special rate shall be an annual-
recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be
payable yearly on the 1st day of June in each and every
year during the currency of the loan, being a period of ten
years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The said special
rate is the same rate made and levied by the said Board on
the 13th day of March 1951, the 10th day of March 1952, the
9th day of September 1952, the 9th day of March 1953, the
13th day of July 1953, the 12th day of October 1953, the 8th
day of February 1954, the 14th day of June 1954, and the
21st day of June 1954, and not additional thereto.'
