Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Blackstone Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 5386)

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 3rd day of February 1953
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section 31 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928 it is enacted that the Governor-General, at the request of the Board of any rabbit district, may, by Order in Council, alter and redefine the boundaries of its district:
And whereas the district known as the Blackstone Rabbit District has been constituted under and for the purposes of the said Act:
And whereas the Board of the said district has, pursuant to the said section 31 of the said Act, requested that the boundaries of its district be altered and redefined by including an additional area therein and by excluding an area therefrom:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said district accordingly:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, herebyโ
- Alters and redefines the boundaries of the said district so constituted as aforesaid; and
- Declares that the boundaries of the said district shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BLACKSTONE RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Otago Land District and the counties of Maniototo and Vincent containing 103,200 acres, more or less, being parts of Blackstone, Lauder, Idaburn, St. Bathans, Tiger Hill, and Turnagain Survey Districts and bounded by a line commencing at the junction of Johnstones Stream with the Manuh erikia River, in St. Bathans Survey District; thence generally south-easterly up Johnstones Stream to the north-western boundary of Run 227c ; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the north-eastern boundary of Maniototo County; thence generally south-easterly along that boundary to Mount Ida; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 227D to the Palmerston-Alexandra State Highway; thence north-westerly along that highway to its junction with the Wedderburn-Omakau via Ida Valley Main Highway at Trig. B, Idaburn Survey District; thence south-westerly along that highway to Boundary Road; thence north-westerly along that road to the Poolburn-Auripo Road; thence south-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary of Tiger Hill Survey District; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Block XVII and south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Blocks XVII, XVI, and XV, Tiger Hill Survey District; thence north-westerly along the southern boundary of said Block XV to the eastern boundary of part Section 4, Block XIV, Tiger Hill Survey District; thence south-westerly along that boundary to the north-eastern boundary of Run 220E; thence generally south-easterly and westerly along that boundary and the southern boundaries of Runs 220E and 220F; thence generally north-easterly along the eastern boundaries of Runs 220G, 220H, and 220B; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Run 244J; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Runs 244J, 244H, and 244G; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Run 244G and its production to the centre of the Manuherikia River; thence generally north-easterly up the centre of the main stream of the Manuherikia River to the point of commencement.

WHEREAS by section 31 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928 it is enacted that the Governor-General, at the request of the Board of any rabbit district, may, by Order in Council, alter and redefine the boundaries of its district:
And whereas the district known as the Manuherikia Rabbit District has been constituted under and for the purposes of the said Act:
And whereas the Board of the said district has, pursuant to the said section 31 of the said Act, requested that the boundaries of its district be altered and redefined by including an additional area therein:
And whereas the consent of a majority of the persons in such additional area qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers' list for the said district has been given to the inclusion of such additional area in the said district:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said district accordingly:

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928 and to section 29 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby constitutes and declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection (1) of section 30 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928, applies, a rabbit district, and appoints that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Hawksbury Rabbit District, and orders that the basis on which the Rabbit Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of land occupied by the ratepayer.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE HAWKSBURY RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Otago Land District and the Counties of Waihemo and Waikouaiti, situated in the Survey Districts of Moeraki and Hawksbury, containing 22,600 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows; commencing at the south-western corner of the Borough of Waikouaiti on the seacoast; thence south-westerly along the mean high-water mark of the Pacific Ocean to the mouth of the Waikouaiti River; thence generally north-westerly up the centre of the main stream of the Waikouaiti River and its North Branch to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 35, Block XI, Hawksbury Survey District; thence generally northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 35 to the Mount Watkin Road; thence south-easterly and north-easterly along the Mount Watkin Road to the eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 2193; thence north-easterly along the eastern boundary of said Lot 1 to the Mount Pleasant Road; thence generally north-easterly along Mount Pleasant Road to its junction with Mount Trotter Road; thence northerly by a straight line to the north-eastern corner of Lot 11, Deposited Plan 2449, on Taieri Peak Road; thence generally easterly along the southern side of Taieri Peak Road to its junction with the western boundary of the Borough of Palmerston; thence southerly and easterly along the western and southern boundaries of the Borough of Palmerston to the Timaru-Dunedin State Highway; thence generally southerly along the western side of the Timaru-Dunedin State Highway to the northern boundary of the Borough of Waikouaiti; thence generally south-westerly and south-easterly along the north-western and south-western boundaries of the Borough of Waikouaiti to the point of commencement.
