Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 15) 1953

Pursuant to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations 1938,* the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 15) 1953.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 4th day of December 1953.

  1. Goods of the class specified in the First Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country other than the countries specified in the Second Schedule hereto, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

Tariff Item No.: 27.

Class of Goods: Biscuits.

SECOND SCHEDULE

Albania, Argentina, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Somaliland, Germany (Russian Zone), Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, Iran, Japan, Korea, Liberia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Roumania, Tangier, United States of America, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Venezuela.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal Committee Areas under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

Pursuant to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs hereby varies the notice dated the 16th day of December 1947 and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 8 January 1948 at page 11, declaring parts of tribal districts to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, by excluding therefrom the descriptions of the Athenree-Bowentown and Te Rereatukahia Tribal Committee Areas of the Katikati Tribal District and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

KATIKATI TRIBAL DISTRICT

Athenree-Bowentown Tribal Committee Area

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station 567, Te Aroha, being the westernmost corner of Block XI, Katikati Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line in the direction of the mouth of the Waihi Stream to the western boundary of part of Waihi No. 5 Block (Part Waihi Borough, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 1926 at page 3045); thence along the western boundary of the aforesaid part of Waihi No. 5 Block, across the Waihi Beach Road, and along the southern boundary of the aforesaid part of Waihi No. 5 Block to its south-eastern corner, being a point on the sea coast; thence south-easterly along the sea coast and a right line to the middle of the Katikati entrance of the Tauranga Harbour; thence south-westerly across the Tauranga Harbour to and up the middle of the Tuapiro Creek to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 13, Block IV, Katikati Survey District; thence southerly to and along the eastern boundaries of the said Section 13 and Sections 20 and 21, Block IV aforesaid, crossing a public road, and along the extension of the last-mentioned Section to the middle of the Tahawai Stream; thence due west along a right line to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the original Aroha Block as shown on the Maori Land Court Plan numbered 3062, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, being through State forest in Block XI, Katikati Survey District; thence along the aforesaid eastern boundary to its intersection with a right line from Trig. Station Ma (Ngakuria-wharei) on the north-western boundary of Block II, Katikati North Survey District, [to Trig. Station 567 (Te Aroha); thence south-westerly along the said right line to Trig. Station 567, being the point of commencement.

Tahawai Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Tahawai Stream on the production of the eastern boundary of Section 21, Block IV, Katikati Survey District; thence proceeding to and along that boundary and the eastern boundaries of Sections 20 and 13, Block IV aforesaid, crossing a public road, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Tuapiro Stream; thence down the middle of that stream to the Tauranga Harbour; thence easterly, south-easterly, and westerly generally to and along the middle of the Tauranga Harbour and up the middle of the Tahawai Stream to its intersection with the production of the eastern boundary of Section 21, Block IV, Katikati Survey District, being the point of commencement.

Te Rereatukahia Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of that part of Section 20, Block III, Wairere Survey District, shown on the plan numbered 28359, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of part Section 20 and Lot 5, as shown on the plan numbered 25781, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the said Section 20, to the northernmost angle in its northern boundary; thence to and along the eastern boundary of the original Aroha Block, as shown on the Native Land Court plan numbered 3062, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, being through State forests in Block X, Aongatete Survey District, and Blocks VII and XI, Katikati Survey District, to a point due west of a point in the middle of the Tahawai Stream on the production of the eastern boundary of Section 21, Block IV, Katikati Survey District, being a point on the southern boundary of the Athenree-Bowentown Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; then easterly along the southern boundary of that area to and along the southern boundary of the Tahawai Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described and up the middle of the Tauranga Harbour, so as to include Egg Island and Tutaetaka Island, to the northernmost corner of Allotment 41, Te Mania Parish, in Block IX, Katikati Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station X, in Block I, Aongatete Survey District, and a right line to the south-eastern corner of that part of Section 20, Block III, Wairere Survey District, shown on the plan numbered 28359, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, being the point of commencement.

Exemption Orders Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

Pursuant to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Declaring Trailer Unit Forming Part of a Multi-axled Motor Vehicle to be a Trailer

Pursuant to subsection (1) of section 2 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby determines that the vehicle specified in the Schedule hereto, forming part of a multi-axled vehicle as defined by section 2 of the said Act, shall be deemed to be a trailer.

SCHEDULE

TRAILER unit, Chassis No. T. 6928 and owned by British Pavements (Canterbury), Limited, Christchurch.

Declaring Trailer Units Forming Part of a Multi-axled Motor Vehicle to be Trailers

Pursuant to subsection (1) of section 2 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby determines that the vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto, forming part of multi-axled vehicles as defined by section 2 of the said Act, shall be deemed to be trailers.

SCHEDULE

TRAILER units, Chassis Nos. 45118/8 and 45119/8, owned by New Zealand Glass Manufacturers Company Proprietary, Limited, Auckland.
