Warrant Authorizing the Lower Hutt City Council to Construct a Bridge Over the Hutt River at Melling (With Approaches Thereto) and Apportioning the Cost

C. W. M. NORRIE, Governor-General

PURSUANT to section 135 of the Public Works Act 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby authorize the Lower Hutt City Council to construct the bridge (together with approaches thereto) described in the Schedule hereto; and I also declare that the cost thereof shall be borne by the local authorities named hereunder in the following proportions, viz:

The Lower Hutt City Council shall pay 96 per centum
The Hutt County Council shall pay 4 per centum

of such cost respectively; and I further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Hutt County Council shall be paid from time to time in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the Hutt County Council within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Lower Hutt City Council; and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Town Clerk, Lower Hutt, for and on behalf of the Hutt County Council.

SCHEDULE

THAT bridge in the Wellington Land District, City of Lower Hutt, over the Hutt River (together with approaches thereto) to replace the bridge known as the Melling Bridge; as the site of the said bridge to be constructed and approaches thereto is more particularly shown on the plan marked P.W.D. 138381, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 1st day of December 1953.
