High Commissioner for New Zealand in Canada Reappointed

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council has been pleased to reappoint
Thomas Charles Atkinson Hislop, a Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George,
as High Commissioner for New Zealand in Canada under and for the purposes of the External Affairs Act 1948, to hold the said office as on and from the 8th day of August 1953 to the 7th day of August 1956.

Appointment of Honorary Fishery Officer

Pursuant to section 29 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1946, the Minister of Marine hereby appoints Allen David Knight, of Chatham Islands,
to be an Honorary Fishery Officer for the purposes of Part I of the Fisheries Act 1908, such person to hold office until the 31st day of March 1956.

Special Order Made by the West Harbour Borough Council Redividing West Harbour Borough into Wards

Pursuant to section 148 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, the following special order made by the West Harbour Borough Council redividing West Harbour Borough into wards is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 148 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, the West Harbour Borough Council resolves by way of special order as follows:

  1. The present subdivision of the Borough of West Harbour into four wards shall be revoked and in lieu thereof the said Borough shall be divided into two wards to be called respectively Rothesay Ward and St. Leonards Ward, which said wards are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
  2. Exclusive of the Mayor, the said West Harbour Borough Council shall consist of eight members, who shall be elected as follows:
    a) The electors of the Rothesay Ward shall elect five councillors.
    b) The electors of the St. Leonards Ward shall elect three councillors.
  3. The alterations hereby made in the number of the members of the said Council shall take effect on and after the 1st day of November 1953, and the councillors to be elected in the month of October 1953 shall be elected in accordance with the provisions of this special order.'

SCHEDULE

Rothesay Ward

All that area in the Otago Land District, Borough of West Harbour, containing 784 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. E in Section 1 of 28, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the Borough of West Harbour as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1945, page 1576, to its intersection with the western boundary of Section 3 of 27, Block IX aforesaid; thence generally south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 1 of 28, Block IX, and Lots 114, 113, 112, 111, and 109, Deposited Plan 331, Township of Maia, to Rosa Road; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of Rosa Road and its production to the southern side of Babsie Road; thence generally south-easterly along the southern and western sides of Babsie Road to and across Netta Road to Isabel Road, and again south-easterly along the western side of Isabel Road across Anna Road and again across Anna Road, to and across the Dunedin-Port Chalmers Main Highway, and that line produced to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of the land vested in the Otago Harbour Board by the Otago Harbour Board Lands Vesting Bill 1910; thence generally south-westerly and north-easterly along the boundary of the Borough of West Harbour described as aforesaid, to the point of commencement.
