THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

Scheme of Control of Tauranga College

Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of the Tauranga College being controlled in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published at page 3451 of Volume III of the New Zealand Gazette of the year 1928:

Provided that—
(a) Clause 19 of the standard scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1953:
(b) Clause 43 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words ‘ The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds ’ were omitted:
(c) Paragraph (5) of the Schedule to the standard scheme shall be read as if there were added to subparagraph (b) the words ‘ and the minimum and maximum number of the candidates who may be men and the minimum and maximum number of candidates who may be women ’:
(d) Paragraph (11) of the Schedule to the standard scheme shall be read as if there were inserted after the words ‘ vacancies to be filled ’ the words ‘ and the number of men candidates is not less than two and the number of women candidates is not less than two ’:
(e) The directions on the voting paper set out in paragraph (12) of the Schedule to the standard scheme shall be read as if there were inserted after the words ‘ must not exceed . . . ’, the words ‘ of whom not less than two and not more than four must be men and not less than two and not more than four must be women ’:
(f) Subparagraph (b) of paragraph (15) of the Schedule to the standard scheme shall be read as if there were inserted after the words ‘ of candidates ’ the words ‘ or the number of men candidates or the number of women candidates ’:
(g) Paragraph (17) of the Schedule to the standard scheme shall be read as if all words after the words ‘ shall ascertain ’ were omitted, and the following words were substituted: ‘ separately and declare to be elected:
‘(a) Those of the men candidates (not exceeding the minimum number of men candidates to be elected) who have received the greatest number of votes:
‘(b) Those of the women candidates (not exceeding the minimum number of women candidates to be elected) who have received the greatest number of votes:
‘(c) Those of the remaining candidates (not exceeding the total number of those candidates to be elected) who have received the greatest number of votes ’.

Scheme of Control of Papakura High School

Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914 the Minister of Education hereby approves of Papakura High School being controlled in accordance with the provisions of the standard scheme of control for secondary schools published at page 3451 of Volume III of the New Zealand Gazette of the year 1928:

Provided that—
(a) Clause 11 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1954:
(b) Clause 19 of the standard scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1956:
(c) Clause 43 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words: ‘ The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds ” were omitted.

Notice Respecting Tariff Inquiry on Films for Cinematographs

It is hereby notified that the report made by the Board of Trade pursuant to the Board of Trade Notice No. 37* respecting the rates of import duty which should be imposed on the following goods (namely, all black and white ‘ sub-standard ’ positive film up to and including 16 mm. in width and all film strips in black and white up to and including 35 mm. which are included in Tariff item 240) has been considered by the Government and it has been decided not to impose duty on such goods.

Redefining Boundaries of the City of Palmerston North, the County of Kairanga, and the Taonui and Fitzherbert Ridings of the County of Kairanga

Pursuant to section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the City of Palmerston North, the County of Kairanga, and the Taonui and Fitzherbert Ridings of the County of Kairanga, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made under the said Act dated the 1st day of April 1953 and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 18 of the 1st day of April 1953.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF PALMERSTON NORTH
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in Blocks VII, X, XI, and XIV, Kairanga Survey District, bounded by a line commencing at a point, being the intersection of the production of the north-western boundary of Lot 27 on D.P. 5402 with the middle line of Setter’s Line, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along the middle of Setter’s Line to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 4 on D.P. 7111, being part Suburban Section 1535, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of Lot 4 on D.P. 7111 and easterly along the southern boundary of the Wellington – New Plymouth Railway (Palmerston North Deviation) to the south-western side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of that railway and its production to the middle of Tremaine Avenue; thence north-easterly along the middle of Tremaine Avenue and Kelvin Grove Road (Boundary Road) to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 693, being part Rural Section 419, Township of Palmerston North; thence in a south-easterly direction to and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid, and the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 2 and 4 on D.P. 693 aforesaid, to and across the Wellington–Napier Railway, and along the north-eastern boundary of part Rural Section 419, Township of Palmerston North, to the north-western side of the Palmerston North – Napier State highway; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of that highway to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 10732, being part Rural Section 390, Township of Palmerston North; thence south-easterly to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 1 and along the south-western boundary of Lot 2 on D.P. 10732 and its production to the right bank of the Manawatu River; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the right bank of the Manawatu River to the middle line of Maxwell’s Line; thence north-westerly along the middle line of Maxwell’s Line to the middle line of the Palmerston North – Himatangi State highway; thence north-easterly along the middle of that State highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 350, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-westerly to and along the last-mentioned boundary to the south-eastern side of Boundary Road; thence north-easterly along that side of Boundary Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 11 on D.P. 7073, being part Section 1564, situated in Block X, Kairanga Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 11 aforesaid and its production to the north-western side of the Wellington – New Plymouth Railway (Palmerston North Deviation); thence north-easterly along the north-western side of that railway to a line 500 links from and parallel to the south-western side of Gillespie’s Line as defined on S.O. 11666; thence north-westerly along that line to its intersection with the north-western boundary of Lot 7 on D.P. 7073; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said Lot 7 to its intersection with a line 250 links from and parallel to the south-western side of Gillespie’s Line defined as aforesaid; thence north-westerly along that line to the southern corner of the land defined on D.P. 6154, being part of Section 1564 aforesaid; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the land defined on D.P. 6154 to the western corner of the said land; thence again north-westerly along a line 250 links from and parallel to the south-western side of Gillespie’s Line, defined as aforesaid, to the north-western boundary of Lot 5 on D.P. 7073; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said Lot 5 and the production of that boundary to the middle line of Gillespie’s Line aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the said middle line to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Rural Section 423, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of the said Rural Section 423 and the north-western boundary of Rural Section 424, Township of Palmerston North, to Rangitikei Line; thence by a right line across Rangitikei Line to the western-most corner of Lot 1 on D.P. 10583, being part Rural Section 554, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 10583 and the north-western boundary of Rural Section 555, Township of Palmerston North, to Milson’s Line; thence by a right line across Milson’s Line to the western corner of Lot 2 on D.P. 9749, being part Rural Section 529, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Lot 2 on D.P. 9749, the north-western boundaries of Lots 26 and 27 on D.P. 5402, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the point of commencement.
