Present:
THE HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941, and section 7 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Amendment Act 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby amends the Order in Council dated the 3rd day of August 1949, and published in the Gazette of the 4th day of August 1949, at page 1625, appointing five non-elective members of the Wairarapa Catchment Board, by deleting—
Senior Forester, State Forest Service, Palmerston North,
and substituting—
Forest Ranger, New Zealand Forest Service, Masterton.

ORDER IN COUNCIL

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby licences and permits Smeed’s Quarries, Limited, of Mercer (hereinafter called the company, which term shall include its successors or assigns, unless the context requires a different construction), to use and occupy a part of the foreshore at Mercer, in the Waikato River, as shown on plan marked M.D. 6036 and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, for the purpose of maintaining a hopper thereon as shown on the said plan, such licence to be held and enjoyed by the company upon and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
CONDITIONS
(1) This licence is subject to the Foreshore Licence Regulations 1940, and the provisions of those regulations shall, so far as applicable, apply hereto.
(2) The premium payable by the company shall be two pounds (£2) and the annual sum so payable five pounds (£5).
(3) The term of the licence shall be fourteen years from the 1st day of April 1953.
(4) The master of every vessel discharging ballast at the said hopper shall have all such ballast taken away and deposited above high-water mark or at such place as may be approved of by the Minister or by any person appointed by the Minister for that purpose.

Naenae College Board of Governors Order 1953

Pursuant to section 90 of the Education Act 1914, as amended by section 10 of the Education Amendment Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
-
This order may be cited as the Naenae College Board of Governors Order 1953.
-
The Board of Governors to be constituted for the Naenae College in accordance with section 90 of the Education Act 1914 is hereby varied so that the college shall be controlled by a Board of Governors constituted as follows:—
(a) Two members to be appointed by the Wellington Education Board;
(b) Four members to be elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school;
(c) Two members to be appointed by the Governor-General;
(d) One member to be appointed by the Lower Hutt City Council;
(e) One member to be elected by the members of the school committees of the Stokes Valley School, the Taita North School, the Taita Central School, the Taita South School, the Rata Street School, the Naenae School, the Dyer Street School, and such other public schools as are approved from time to time for the purpose by the Minister of Education.

The Nelson College Council Order

Pursuant to section 38 of the Finance Act 1931 (No. 2), His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders as follows:—
ORDER
The Order in Council fixing the dates for making the appointments or the holding of elections and prescribing the manner of conducting the elections for the Nelson College Council made on the 23rd day of June 1931 and published on page 1833 of Vol. II of the Gazette of the year 1931 is hereby amended as follows:—
(1) By revoking clause 10 thereof, and substituting the following clause:—
“10. (a) On the 31st day of May 1954, and on that day every three years thereafter, the following Governors shall retire from office:—
‘One Governor appointed by the Governor-General; ‘The Governor appointed by the Education Board of the District of Nelson; ‘Two Governors appointed by associations of employees in local industries.
“(b) On the 31st day of May 1955, and on that day every three years thereafter, the following Governors shall retire from office:—
‘Two Governors elected by associations of employers in local industries; ‘The Governor appointed by the Executive of the Old Pupils’ Association of Nelson College; ‘The Governor appointed by the Executive of the Old Pupils’ Association of Nelson Girls’ College.
“(c) On the 31st day of May 1956, and on that day every three years thereafter, the following Governors shall retire from office:—
‘One Governor appointed by the Governor-General; ‘The Governor appointed by the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association; ‘Three Governors elected by the parents of the children attending the schools under the control and management of the Council.’”
(2) By revoking clause 12.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Makotuku Survey District, Wellington Land District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 5th day of May 1953
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is a reserve duly set apart for road and bridge purposes: And whereas it is expedient that the purpose of the reservation over such land shall be changed to a reserve for gravel purposes:
Now, therefore, pursuant to subsection (1) (a) of section 7 of the Public Reserves and Domains Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto is hereby changed from a reserve for road and bridge purposes to a reserve for gravel purposes.
