The Servicemen’s Settlement Act 1950—Notice Declaring Land Taken for Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to which Part II of the Servicemen’s Settlement Act 1950 applies :

And whereas the purchaser of the said land is neither a discharged serviceman nor a child or grandchild of the vendor :

And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the said application was referred, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the said land, did on the 28th day of July 1952 adjourn the said application :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 31 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 1st day of August 1952 as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in Her Majesty the Queen.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area situated in Block III, Rangitata Survey District, and Block XVI, Shepherds Bush Survey District, containing a total area of 1,265 acres and 7 perches, more or less, being Rural Sections 28612, 28635, 31327, 31946, 31947, and 35879, and being all the land comprised and described in certificates of title, Volumes and folios : 339/272, 377/196, 421/254, and 494/199 (Canterbury Registry).

Classification of Roads in Kairanga County

PURSUANT to regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes the Warrant dated the 18th day of January 1951,* classifying roads in the Kairanga County in so far as it relates to the classification of the road described in the Schedule hereto, and hereby approves the Kairanga County Council’s proposed classification of the said road as described in the said Schedule.

Excluding Portion of a Road from Limitation as to Speed Imposed by the Transport Act 1949, Section 36

PURSUANT to section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby excludes that portion of road described in the Schedule hereto from the limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Dargaville Borough—Dargaville–Ohaewai via Waipoua Forest State Highway No. 36 (all that portion commencing at a point 14 chains measured along the said State Highway in a westerly direction from its junction with the Dargaville–Tikinui Main Highway No. 594, proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction and terminating at the western boundary of Dargaville Borough).

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply :—

A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Whangarei Aerodrome

In the matter of the Public Works Amendment Act 1935, and in the matter of the Whangarei Aerodrome.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in him by section 4 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1935 the Minister of Works hereby revokes the notice dated the 11th day of December 1944, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 96 of the 14th day of the same month, at page 1515, prohibiting the erection, placing, or extension, without his consent, of any building, pole, mast, or other structure of any kind, or the growing of any tree, beyond a height of ten (10) feet on Lot 5 on a plan lodged in the Deeds Register Office at Auckland as No. P. 39, and being portion of Allotments 207, 208, and 209, Town of Grahamtown, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 544, folio 145 (Auckland Registry).

Consent to the Consignment of Certain Seed Potatoes from the South Island (Notice No. Ag. 5298)

PURSUANT to regulation 2 of the Board of Trade (Potatoes) Regulations 1952, I Robert Browne Tennent, Acting Director-General of Agriculture, hereby grant consent to the consignment of one sack of seed potatoes by any person in the South Island to any person in the North Island.
