Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act 1928 (hereinafter termed the said Act), and by the regulations made on 12 May 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 21 May 1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against their names, are hereby appointed transmitting and receiving officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid :—

Post Office Savings Bank—Fixing Rates of Interest on Deposits
The Treasury,
Wellington, 12 August 1952.
PURSUANT to section 82 of the Post and Telegraph Act 1928, I, Sidney George Holland, Minister of Finance, do hereby fix the rates of interest to be payable on and after 1 September 1952 in respect of moneys deposited in the Post Office Savings Bank in the case of each depositor as follows :—
(a) On so much of his deposit as does not exceed five hundred pounds, a rate of two pounds ten shillings per centum per annum.
(b) On so much thereof as exceeds five hundred pounds and does not exceed two thousand pounds, a rate of two pounds per centum per annum.
(c) On so much thereof as exceeds two thousand pounds and does not exceed five thousand pounds, a rate of one pound ten shillings per centum per annum.
The rates of interest fixed by the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of 21 May 1942 are hereby cancelled on and from 1 September 1952.

Notice Under the Shops and Offices Act 1921–22 and its Amendments Prohibiting the Sale Within the City of Dunedin of Certain Goods Comprised in the Trade of a Florist
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the florists’ shops within the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a florist—namely, flowers (whether fresh-cut or made up), artificial flowers, pot-plants, raffia, and florists’ requisites—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act 1921–22 or of any award :
And whereas he is satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said city, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said city :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, the Minister of Labour doth hereby direct that on and after the 21st day of August 1952, the sale of the said goods within the said city shall be and is hereby prohibited all day on Saturdays and after 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives notice of the following results of the elections held on 12 August 1952, by the insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand to fill an extraordinary vacancy on each of the Fire Boards for the Dunedin and Port Chalmers Urban Fire Districts :—

The Servicemen’s Settlement Act 1950—Notice Declaring Land Taken for Settlement of Discharged Servicemen
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to which Part II of the Servicemen’s Settlement Act 1950, applies :
And whereas the purchaser of the said land is neither a discharged serviceman nor a child or grandchild of the vendor :
And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the said application was referred, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the said land, did on the 14th day of July 1952 adjourn the said application :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 31 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 20th day of August 1952, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in Her Majesty the Queen.

ALL those areas containing together acres 2 roods 26 perches, more or less, being Sections 45, 49, parts of Sections 29, 43, and 44, Block IV, Warepa Survey District, and being more particularly described in conveyance registered in the Deeds Register Office at Dunedin as No. 115607, the said parts of Section 29, being also part of Farm No. 12 on the plan of the Warepa Estate deposited in the Land Registry Office at Dunedin as No. 298, and being all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 239, folio 34, limited as to parcels, Otago Registry.
