Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public
Highways to be Main Highways

Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in him by section 3 of the Main Highways Act 1922, and of all
other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby declares that, on and after the
1st day of April 1952, the main highways and portions of main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main
highways, and further declares that, as from the 1st day of April
1952, the roads described in the Second Schedule shall be main
highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main
Highways Act 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 7
Stratford-Kaponga.-All that main highway in the Borough of
Stratford and the Stratford County, declared as the Stratford-
Kaponga Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on
10 October 1940.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 10
Mauriceville-Hastwell.-All that main highway in the Maurice-
ville County, declared as the Mauriceville-Hastwell Main Highway,
described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1940.
Masterton-Weber via Alfredton.-All that main highway or
portion of main highway in the Masterton County, declared as the
Masterton-Weber via Alfredton Main Highway, now lying within
the Borough of Masterton, commencing at its junction with Blair
Street, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction, and
terminating at its junction with Columba Road at the eastern
boundary of the Masterton Borough, being a distance of 20 chains,
more or less, described in Order in Council dated 9 June 1924, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette on 12 June 1924; as the same
is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 136041, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured yellow.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 16
Palmerston-Clyde.-All that main highway or portion of main
highway in the Counties of Waihemo, Maniototo, and Vincent, and
the Borough of Palmerston, declared as the Palmerston-Clyde
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1940.
Alexandra-Springvale.-All that main highway or portion of
main highway in the Vincent County and the Borough of Alexandra,
declared as the Alexandra-Springvale Main Highway, described in
Order in Council dated 2 October 1940, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1940.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 18
Queenstown-Invercargill.-All that main highway or portion of
main highway in the Southland County, declared as the Queenstown-
Invercargill Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on
10 October 1940.
Makarewa-Browns-Limehills.-All that main highway or
portion of main highway in the Southland County, declared as the
Makarewa-Browns-Limehills Main Highway, described in Order in
Council dated 2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette on 10 October 1940.
Riverton-Rocks.-All that main highway or portion of main
highway in the Wallace County, declared as the Riverton-Rocks
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 14 January 1932,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 21 January 1932.
Makarewa-Lochiel.-All that main highway or portion of main
highway in the Southland County, declared as the Makarewa-
Lochiel Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on
10 October 1940.
Wallacetown-Branxholm.-All that main highway or portion of
main highway in the Southland County, declared as the Wallacetown-
Branxholm Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
16 December 1935, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on
19 December 1935.
SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1
Springbank-Kerikeri Wharf.-All that road or portion of road
in the Bay of Islands County, commencing at its junction with the
Pakaraka-Awanui via Mangonui Main Highway at a point in
Section 2, Block I, Kawakawa Survey District, and proceeding
thence generally in a north-easterly direction, and terminating at
a point opposite the Kerikeri Wharf, being a distance of 3 miles
24 chains, more or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated
on plan P.W.D. 136257, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Kaeo-Okaihau.-All that road or portion of road in the
Whangaroa County, commencing at its junction with the Pakaraki-
Awanui via Mangonui Main Highway at a point adjacent to
Sections 44 and 45, Kaeo Parish, Block VII, Kaeo Survey District,
and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction to the
southern boundary of the said county, being a distance of 11 miles
15 chains, more or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated
on plan P.W.D. 136258, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Bay of Islands
County, commencing at Section 5, Block XV, Kaeo Survey District,
at the Bay of Islands County boundary, and proceeding thence
generally in a southerly direction, and terminating at its junction
with the Whangarei-Awanui via Kawakawa Main Highway at the
south-eastern corner of Komiti Block, Block VII, Omapere Survey
District, being a distance of 10 miles 52 chains, more or less; as
the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 136258,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington,
and thereon coloured green.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2A
Whangaparaoa.-All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County known as the Whangaparaoa Road, commencing at
its junction with the Birkenhead-Maungaturoto Main Highway in
Section 33, Block XI, Waiwera Survey District, and proceeding
thence generally in an easterly and then in a south-easterly direction,
and terminating at its junction with the Manly Beach Road opposite
the south-eastern corner of Section South 189, Waiwera Parish,
being a distance of 4 miles 60 chains, more or less; as the same
is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 135559, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured blue.
Warkworth-Sandspit.-All that road or portion of road in the
Warkworth Town District known as the Sandspit Road, commencing
at its junction with the Birkenhead-Maungaturoto Main Highway,
and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction, and
terminating at the eastern boundary of the said Town District
opposite the north-eastern corner of Lot 22 of Allotment 48, Mahurangi Parish, being a distance of 36 chains, more or less; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 135560,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington,
and thereon coloured blue.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Rodney County
known as the Sandspit Road, commencing at the eastern boundary
of the Warkworth Town District at a point in Section 47, Block VII,
Mahurangi Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in an
easterly direction, and terminating at the southern end of the
Sandspit Wharf at a point in Section 23, Block VIII, Mahurangi
Survey District, being a distance of 4 miles 40 chains, more or less;
as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 135560,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington,
and thereon coloured blue.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2B
Whangamata Port.-All that road or portion of road in the
Thames County known as the Whangamata Port Road, commencing
at its junction with the Coroglen-Waihi via Whangamata Main
Highway at a point opposite the north-eastern corner of Section 9,
Block XVI, Tairua Survey District, and proceeding thence in a
north-easterly direction through Whangamata Township, and
terminating at its junction with the foreshore road at a point opposite
the Whangamata Post Office, being a distance of 1 mile 17 chains,
more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 136482, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured black.
Coromandel-Colville.-All that road or portion of road in the
Coromandel County, commencing at its junction with the Thames-
Coromandel Main Highway at Te Tiki Street intersection, Kapanga
Township (Coromandel), Block VI, Coromandel Survey District, and
proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction through the said
township, then in a northerly direction, and terminating at its
junction with Kennedy's Bay Road near Driving Creek Post Office
at the western corner of Section 11, Block XI, Coromandel Survey
District, being a distance of 1 mile 50 chains, more or less; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 136483, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured black.
Tahuna Link.-All that road or portion of road in the Piako
County, commencing at its junction with the Ngatea-Waharoa via
Morrisville Main Highway at the western boundary of part Section
4, Block IX, Waitoa Survey District, and proceeding thence in an
easterly direction across the Piako River, and terminating at its
junction with the Waitoa-Maukoro Main Highway at the south-
eastern corner of Section 17, Block VI, Waitoa Survey District,
being a distance of 1 mile 50 chains, more or less; as the same
is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 136484, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured black.
Waitakaruru-Kaihere.-All that road or portion of road in the
Hauraki Plains County known as the Waitakaruru-Morrisville Road,
commencing at its junction with the Pokeno-Paeroa via Ngatea
Main Highway at a point in the north-western boundary of Section
1c, 3b, Waitakaruru Block in Block III, Piako Survey District, and
proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction, and terminating
at its junction with the Ngatea-Waharoa via Morrisville Main
Highway at the eastern boundary of Lot 1, Section 9, Block XII,
Piako Survey District, being a distance of 8 miles 40 chains, more
or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D.
136481, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured black.
