Alterations to the Scale of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act 1949 and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, William Stanley Goosman, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April 1939 and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April 1939 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April 1939, and the Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 18th day of December 1950 and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of December 1950 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 14th day of December 1950, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic, and do hereby declare that such alterations shall come into force on the 16th day of December 1951.

56. Fresh Fruit, Fresh Vegetables, Mushrooms, and Nuts
Paragraphs 1 and 1A: Omit these paragraphs, and substitute the following:—
- Except as provided in paragraph 1A hereof, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and nuts grown and packed in New Zealand (including Cook Islands or Niue) in consignments not exceeding 2 cwt. in weight will be charged as follows:—

1A. The charges for fruit, tomatoes, and mushrooms conveyed under the provisions of paragraph 1 hereof and packed in cardboard boxes or paper parcels will be increased by 25 per cent.
Paragraph 2: Omit “9d.,” insert “1s. 0d.”
Add new paragraph 3A:—
For the purposes of this regulation, artichokes, beetroot, carrots, garlic, kumeras, vegetable marrows, melons, onions, parsnips, potatoes, pumpkins, and turnips are deemed to be fresh vegetables and will be charged accordingly.
