Members of Assessment Court for Farm-land List for Borough of Woodville Appointed

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased, in terms of section 10 of the Urban Farm Land Rating Act 1932, to appoint

Archibald Francis Curry, Esquire, Farmer, of Woodville,

to be a member of the Assessment Court for the Borough of Woodville, vice Clement George Henry Stewart McIntosh, resigned ; and also to appoint

Alfred Olsson, Esquire, Retired, of Woodville,

on the recommendation of the Woodville Borough Council, to be a member of the said Court, vice Henry Gordon Bagnall, resigned.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court Appointed

WILLIAM GRAHAM McDONALD, Esquire, of Wollongong, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Humphrey Francis O’Leary, K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in New South Wales under section 47 of the Judicature Act 1908 for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Dated at Wellington, this 3rd day of December 1951.

Notification of Exemption from Renters’ Quota Under the Cinematograph Films Act 1928

IT is hereby notified that, in accordance with the authority contained in section 29 of the Cinematograph Films Act 1928, exemption has been granted to each of the following named renters in respect of the film-renting season for the year 1950–51 from the provision of the aforesaid Act, which requires every licensed renter to acquire a stated proportion of British films :—

Notification of Approval of Amending Rules—Southland Acclimatization Society

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 25 of the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22, I hereby notify that two copies of the amending rules made by the Southland Acclimatization Society on the 21st day of May 1951 have been forwarded to me and were approved on the 4th day of December 1951.

Plants Declared to be Noxious Weeds in the Whakatane County (Notice No. Ag. 5188)

Wellington, 4 December 1951.

THE following special order, made by the Whakatane County Council on the 27th day of November 1951, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 :—

That, vide provisions of section 3, Noxious Weeds Act 1950, this Council declares by way of special order the following plants listed in the First Schedule to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 to be noxious weeds within the Whakatane County—

Bathurst bur (Xanthium spinosum),
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus laciniatus),
Common broom (Cytisus scoparius),
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea),
Gorse (Ulex, any species),
Hemlock (Conium maculatum),
Japanese wineberry (Rubus phoenicolasius),
Milk thistle or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum),
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea),
St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum),
Silver poplar (Populus alba var. nivea),
Sweetbrier (Rosa eglanteria syn. Rosa rubiginosa),
Thorn apple or Jimson weed (Datura stramonium),
Tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum),
Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes),
Winged thistle (Carduus tenuiflorus and Carduus pycnocephalus),
Woolly nightshade (Solanum auriculatum),

and within the following “specified portions” of the Whakatane County, viz.—

(1) All lands comprised in the Town of Richmond (Matata Township) south of Arawa Street; and

(2) Lot 3, Matata Parish, with the exclusion of the sandhill frontage of Lot 3, Matata Parish, south of the State Highway; and

(3) All lands comprised in the Township of Ohope from and including Part Section 245, Waimana Parish, D.P. 22040, 2½ acres in the west, to in the east, the western bank of the Maraetotara Stream, and bounded to the north by the Bay of Plenty and generally to the south by a line 20 chains south of and parallel to mean high-water mark, but with beach sandhills on ocean front excluded from area, Lupin (Lupinus arboreus) is also hereby declared to be a noxious weed.
