A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 29 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1948, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim as street the land described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as street: 32·96 perches.
Being Lot 43A, D.P. 8259, being also part Heretaunga Block, and being part of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, H.B. Volume 132, folio 88 (Hawke’s Bay Land Registry).
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 23rd day of November 1951.

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land subject to the Land Act 1948.

The Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations (No. 2) 1951

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of November 1951
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following regulations.
REGULATIONS
- (1) These regulations may be cited as the Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations (No. 2) 1951 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the regulations (hereinafter called the principal regulations) made under the Government Railways Act 1908 on the 12th day of June 1922, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 15th day of the same month at page 1583, as the same are enuring under the Government Railways Act 1949.
(2) These regulations shall be deemed to have come into force on the 15th day of February 1951.
- Regulation 64 of the principal regulations, as substituted by regulation 3 of the Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations 1950*, is hereby amended by revoking subclause (1), and substituting the following subclause:—
“ (1) Every administrative officer who in the course of his duty within New Zealand is required to be absent from his headquarters on relief or other duty for a continuous period of twenty-four hours or longer, or a period involving his leaving and returning on successive days, shall, subject to the succeeding provisions of this regulation, be paid an allowance in respect of the time during which he is so absent in accordance with such scale of rates as the General Manager may from time to time determine.
- The principal regulations are hereby amended by revoking regulation 79A, as set out in regulation 5 of the Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations 1949†, and substituting the following regulation:—
“ 79A. The General Manager or any officer authorized by him may grant to any administrative officer who is transferred at the Department’s expense and who is as a consequence obliged to move his household from his existing residential quarters to new residential quarters, in addition to any other expenses and allowances in respect of his transfer to which he is entitled under these regulations, an allowance at such rate and under such conditions as may from time to time be determined by the General Manager.”
- Regulation 143A of the principal regulations, as set out in regulation 7 of the Government Railways (Staff) Amending Regulations 1947‡, is hereby amended by revoking paragraph (g) of subclause (4), and substituting the following paragraph:—
“ (g) The employee may, during the period of his special leave, be granted a subsistence allowance at such rate as may from time to time be determined by the General Manager. The allowance shall be paid by way of advances at the commencement of each term of the University session.”

EXPLANATORY NOTE
[This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.]
These regulations give the General Manager power to fix the rate of the allowance payable to administrative officers for travelling expenses and for moving their households when they are transferred at the Department’s expense, and the rate of subsistence allowance payable to employees who are granted leave of absence to undertake a University course.
