Notice of Intention to Take Land for Road in Blocks XI and XII, Orahiri Survey District

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for road; and notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Te Kuiti and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of the land, set forth the same in writing, and send the writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

In the South Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plans marked and coloured as above mentioned and deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Transport Act, 1949, Section 36

PURSUANT to section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Tauranga County: All that area consisting of that portion of Oropi Road, commencing at the junction of the said road with the Tauranga-Pairere State Highway No. 42, proceeding thence in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at a point 2 chains measured along the said road in a south-easterly direction from its junction with Mansels Road.

SITUATED within Whangarei County: All those roads at Portland Township, including all that portion of the Otaika–Portland Main Highway No. 885, commencing at a point 29 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-westerly direction from its junction with Dominion Road, and terminating at the south-eastern end of the said main highway.

SITUATED within Whakatane County: All that area at Edgecumbe consisting of those portions of roads hereinafter described:—

  1. Te Teko–Awakeri via Edgecumbe Main Highway No. 893, commencing at the junction of the said main highway with Riverslea Road, and terminating at the junction of the said main highway with East Bank Road.
  2. East Bank Road, commencing at its junction with the Te Teko–Awakeri via Edgecumbe Main Highway No. 893, and terminating at a point 12 chains measured along the said road in a northerly direction from the said junction.
  3. Railway Road West, commencing at the new bridge over the Rangitaiki River, proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction, and terminating at the north-western boundary of the Saleyards.
  4. Station Road.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy-trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver's licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy-trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market garden of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy-trade motor for any other purpose.
