Notice Under the Shops and Offices Act 1921–22, and its Amendments,
Fixing the Closing Hours of Fruiterers’ Shops Within the Borough
of Gisborne

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of
the occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough
of Gisborne, has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops
within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days
as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
at 6 p.m.; on Fridays at 9 p.m.; and on Saturdays at 5 p.m.:
And whereas I, William Sullivan, Minister of Labour, am
satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 19th
day of November 1951 all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough
of Gisborne shall be closed accordingly.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal
Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advance-
ment Act 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister
of Maori Affairs, hereby vary the notice dated the 16th day of
December 1947 and published in the Gazette on the 8th day of
January 1948, at page 11, declaring parts of tribal districts to be
tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, by excluding
therefrom the description of the Te Rere Tribal Committee Area,
and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE

WHAKATOHEA-NGAITAI TRIBAL DISTRICT

Pakohai Tribal Committee Area

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the
middle of the Waioeka River in line with the southern side of Duke
Street in the Borough of Opotiki; thence proceeding down the
middle of the Waioeka River to its confluence with the Otara River;
thence up the middle of the Otara River to a point in line with the
southern boundary of Duke Street aforesaid; thence westerly to
and along the southern side of that street (crossing Stewart Street
and Otara Road) and its production to the middle of the Waioeka
River, the point of commencement.

Te Rere Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station 24
in Block VII, Opotiki Survey District; thence proceeding north-
westerly along a right line to a point in the middle of the Waioeka
River in line with the southern side of Duke Street in the Borough
of Opotiki; thence easterly to and along the southern side of Duke
Street (crossing Otara Road and Stewart Street) and its production
to the middle of the Otara River; thence up the middle of the
Otara River to its confluence with the Pakihi and Te Waiti Streams
in Block XIII, Waiaua Survey District; thence north-westerly
along a right line to Trig. Station 24, the point of commencement.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in the City of Lower Hutt for
Housing Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act 1928, to take the land described in
the Schedule hereto for housing purposes; and notice is hereby
further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is
deposited in the post-office at Lower Hutt and is there open for
inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said
land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking
of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 27
perches.
Being part Section 47, Hutt District.

Situated in Block IX, Belmont Survey District.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particu-
larly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 135680, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged
orange.

Notice of Intention to Take Additional Land in the City of Wanganui
for a Public School

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act 1928, to take the additional land
described in the Schedule hereto for a public school; and notice is
hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be
taken is deposited in the Post Office at Wanganui and is there open
for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the
said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
taking of the land, set forth the same in writing, and send the
writing, within 40 days from the first publication of this notice,
to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of additional land required to be
taken: 1 rood 24·6 perches.
Being Lots 8 and 9, D.P. 8009, being part Section 24, Right Bank
Wanganui River.

Situated in the City of Wanganui, and being all the land com-
prised and described in certificate of title, Volume 560, folio 148.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particu-
larly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 135513, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
coloured red.

District, for Soil-conservation and River-control Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions
of the Public Works Act 1928, to execute a certain public
work—to wit, the construction of a diversion of the Wanganui
River near Taumarunui for soil-conservation and river-control
purposes—and for the purposes of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken; and notice is hereby
further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is
deposited in the post-office at Taumarunui and is there open for
inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the
said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they
have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said
public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in
writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first
publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if
they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land,
set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty
days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works
at Wellington.

Situated in Block VI, Coromandel Survey District (Auckland

In the South Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 135580, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
coloured blue.
