Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Edendale Rabbit District.—(Notice No. Ag. 1952)

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 31st day of January, 1951

Present:

THE HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section 29 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby—

(1) Alter and redefine the boundaries of the Edendale Rabbit District by adding thereto the areas of land the boundaries of which are described in the First Schedule hereto :

(2) Declare that the boundaries of the said district as so altered and redefined shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE AREAS TO BE ADDED TO THE EDENDALE RABBIT DISTRICT

FIRST, all that area in the County of Southland, Southland Land District, containing by estimation 4,300 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the western side of Gorge Road in line with the southern side of Manson Road; thence generally in an easterly direction across the said Gorge Road and along the southern side of Manson Road, to a public road forming the south-western boundary of Block XI, Oteramika Hundred; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of the said public road and across a road reserve to the right bank of the Mataura River; thence generally in a southerly direction along the right bank of the Mataura River, to a point in line with the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve; thence westerly along the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve, to the north-western corner of the eastern part of Section 34, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred; thence westerly by a right line across a railway reserve to the north-eastern corner of the western part of Section 34, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred; thence westerly along the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve, to a point in line with the western side of Gorge Road; thence generally in a northerly direction to and along the western side of Gorge Road to the point of commencement.

Secondly, all that area in the Southland County, Southland Land District, containing by estimation 5,120 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads and streams and bounded as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Titipua Stream and a public road forming the southern boundary of Lot 4 on plan numbered 174, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence south-easterly along the southern side of the said public road, to and across Downs Road; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern side of Downs Road forming the north-western boundary of Edendale Rabbit District as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1941, page 3943, to and across a public road, to the north-eastern corner of part of Lot 1 on plan numbered 1926, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of a public road forming the north-eastern boundaries of the said part of Lot 1, and part of Lot 1 on plan numbered 2003, deposited as aforesaid, to and across the Old Dunedin Road; thence north-easterly generally along the western side of the Old Dunedin Road and a public road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 57, 53, 52, 48, 47, 42, 41, and 34, Block V, Lindhurst Hundred, and intersecting Lot 6, part Lot 5, and Lot 2 on plan numbered 911, deposited as aforesaid, to the Titipua Stream; thence north-easterly along the Titipua Stream to the point of commencement.

Thirdly, all that area in the Southland County, Southland Land District, containing by estimation 6,450 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads and streams and bounded as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Dacre–Gorge Road Main Highway and the Kennington–Waikawa Main Highway; thence easterly generally along the northern side of the Kennington–Waikawa Main Highway forming the southern boundary of the Edendale Rabbit District as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1941, page 3943, to the right bank of the Mataura River; thence southerly generally by the right bank of the Mataura River, to a point in line with the south-western side of Hanson Road; thence westerly generally along the southern side of Hanson Road, to and across Gorge Road; thence northerly generally by the western side of Gorge Road to the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE EDENDALE RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Southland, Southland Land District, containing by estimation 55,500 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the confluence of the Waimumu Stream and the Mataura River; thence southerly along the right bank of the Mataura River, to a point in line with the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve; thence westerly along the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve, to the north-western corner of the eastern part of Section 34, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred; thence westerly by a right line across a railway reserve, to the north-eastern corner of the western part of Section 34, Block IX, aforesaid; thence westerly along the southern side of the Invercargill–Tokanui Railway Reserve to a point in line with the western side of Gorge Road; thence northerly generally to and along the western side of Gorge Road to a point in line with a closed road intersecting part of Lot 7 on plan numbered 153, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence easterly and northerly generally along the northern and western sides of the said closed road intersecting the said part of Lot 7, Lot 1 on the plan numbered 546, deposited as aforesaid, and Lot 8, and forming the south-eastern and eastern boundaries of Lots 9 and 1 on plan numbered 153, deposited as aforesaid, to and across a public road forming the southern boundary of Lothian Hundred; thence westerly along the northern side of the said public road to the south-east corner of Lot 31 on the plan numbered 158, deposited as aforesaid, thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of Lots 31 and 30 on the said plan numbered 158, and the western side of Swains Road, across a public road to the southern side of the Dunedin–Invercargill railway reserve; thence north-easterly along the said railway reserve to a point in line with the western side of Downs Road; thence northerly across the said railway reserve to and along the western side of Downs Road to the southern side of a public road forming the northern boundary of part of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 1926, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the southern side of the said public road forming the northern boundary of the said part of Lot 1, and part of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 2003, deposited as aforesaid, to and across the Old Dunedin Road; thence along the western side of the Old Dunedin Road and a public road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 57, 53, 52, 48, 47, 42, 41, and 34, Block V, Lindhurst Hundred, and intersecting Lot 6, part Lot 5, and Lot 2, on the plan numbered 911, deposited as aforesaid, to the Titipua Stream; thence north-easterly by the Titipua Stream to the southern side of a road forming the southern boundary of Lot 4 on the plan numbered 174, deposited as aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the southern side of the said public road across Downs Road and along the southern side of a public road forming the southern boundaries of part Lot 62, part Lot 58, Lots 48, 49, 50, 52, 53, and 54 on the plan numbered 134, deposited as aforesaid, and across the Gore–Invercargill State Highway, to the Dunedin–Invercargill Railway; thence north-easterly along the said Dunedin–Invercargill Railway to the Waimumu Stream; thence easterly generally along the Waimumu Stream to the point of commencement, excepting out of the above-described area the Town District of Edendale as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1913, page 2111.

PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section 29 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby—

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE AREAS TO BE ADDED TO THE WOODLANDS RABBIT DISTRICT

FIRST, all that parcel of land, inclusive of roads, situated in the Southland Land District, Southland County, and containing by estimation 4,200 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Titipua Stream and a public road forming the western boundary of Section 40, Block II, Lothian Hundred; thence in a southerly direction along the eastern side of the said public road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 2, Block I, Mabel Hundred; thence in a westerly direction to and along the northern boundary of the aforesaid Section 2 and Section 12, Block I, Mabel Hundred, to and across Woodstock Road to the western side thereof; thence in a northerly and westerly direction by the western and southern sides of Woodstock Road and a public road forming the northern boundaries of Sections 16, 17, 22, and 23 to Robertson Road; thence across Robertson Road to the north-eastern corner of Section 19, Block IV, Mabel Hundred; thence in a north-westerly direction generally by the south-western side of a public road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 19, 18, 20, 21, and 12, Block IV, aforesaid,
