Lands Reserved in the North Auckland, South Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington Land Districts

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette: Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act, 1948, and subject to the reservations imposed by section 8 of the Coal Mines Amendment Act, 1950, the lands in the North Auckland, South Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be reserved.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

Allotment 182, Village of Weymouth, situated in Block XIII, Otahuhu Survey District: Area, 1 rood 26·2 perches, more or less. (North Auckland S.O. plan 36279s.) (Recreation.)

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Matamata County Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Matamata County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year, ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—MAUNGATAUTARI MOUNTAIN SCENIC RESERVE

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 2,691 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Maungatautari No. 3A Section 5A No. 7 Block, Maungatautari Survey District, and being all the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 201, folio 102, Auckland Registry.

Also all that area containing by admeasurement 936 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Maungatautari No. 3A Section 5A No. 3 Block, Maungatautari Survey District, and being all the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 235, folio 29, Auckland Registry.

Also all that area containing by admeasurement 221 acres, more or less, being Maungatautari No. 3A Section 5A No. 6 Block, and being all the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 275, folio 138, Auckland Registry.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 19th day of June, 1951.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 19th day of June, 1951.

Cancelling the Appointment of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Main Highways Board, and Appointing Another Chairman and Another Deputy Chairman of the Said Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 9th day of July, 1946, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 49, of the 11th day of the same month, at page 971, Fritz Langbein, Esquire, of Wellington, then Acting Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, was appointed to be a member and Chairman of the Main Highways Board in terms of subsection (3), clause (a), of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922:

And whereas the said Fritz Langbein has tendered his resignation from the Main Highways Board and it is considered expedient to accept such resignation:

And whereas by a Warrant dated the 9th day of July, 1946, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 49, of the 11th day of the same month, at page 971, Reginald Trevor Smith, Esquire, of Wellington, then Acting Assistant Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, was appointed to be a member and Deputy Chairman of the Main Highways Board in terms of subsection (3), clause (a), of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922:

And whereas by Warrant dated the 11th day of November, 1950, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 70, of the 16th day of the same month, Frederick William Lindup, Esquire, of Wellington, then Inspecting Engineer of the Ministry of Works, was appointed to be an acting member of the Main Highways Board in terms of subsection (5) of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf do hereby accept the resignation of the said Fritz Langbein as a member and Chairman of the Main Highways Board, and I do hereby cancel as from the date hereof the appointment of the said Fritz Langbein as a member and Chairman of the said Board:

And in further pursuance and exercise of the said powers and authorities I do hereby appoint as from the date hereof—

Reginald Trevor Smith, Esquire, of Wellington, Assistant Engineer-in-Chief of the Ministry of Works

to be Chairman of the Main Highways Board; and

Frederick William Lindup, Esquire, of Wellington, Inspecting Engineer of the Ministry of Works

to be a member and Deputy Chairman of the Main Highways Board; in terms of subsection (3), clause (a), of section 5 of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 15th day of June, 1951.
