HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers,
resignations, and retirements, of officers of the New Zealand
Army :-

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Regular Force—

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) J. R. Page, D.S.O., is
appointed Commander, 1st Infantry Brigade, in addition to his
present appointment. Dated 1st June, 1951.

Stanley Charles Norman Greathead, late Captain, Royal
Artillery, to be Lieutenant (on prob.). Dated 21st May, 1951.

Territorial Force—

10th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—

Lieutenant (temp. Major) A. B. Chappell is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with
the rank of Major. Dated 6th March, 1951.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Territorial Force—

1st Armoured Regiment (Waikato), R.N.Z.A.C.—

Lieutenant D. S. George to be Captain. Dated 1st May, 1951.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS

Territorial Force—

1st Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E.—

Captain N. G. Hansen, A.M.I.C.E., A.M.N.Z.I.E., A.M.I.E.
(Aust.), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List,
1st Field Engineer Regiment, R.N.Z.E., with the rank of Captain,
with seniority from 23rd February, 1949. Dated 14th March, 1951.

Temp. Captain H. C. Page is posted to the Retired List with
the rank of Captain. Dated 31st March, 1951.

Captain J. F. W. Tonge, M.B.E., from the Reserve of Officers,
Regimental List, 1st Divisional Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs., to
be Captain, with seniority from 23rd December, 1945. Dated 20th
April, 1951.

THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS

Territorial Force—

1st Infantry Brigade—

Brigadier R. W. Harding, D.S.O., M.M., E.D., relinquishes the
appointment of Commander, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is trans-
ferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z.
Infantry Corps, with the rank of Brigadier. Dated 31st May, 1951.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—

Temp. Major T. A. Bullock, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Canterbury Regiment,
with the rank of Major, with seniority from 31st May, 1945. Dated
18th April, 1951.

Temp. Lieutenant R. Berry, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps,
with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 18th May, 1951.

The Canterbury Regiment—

Major J. T. H. Halkett, M.C., 1st Battalion, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Canterbury Regiment,
with the rank of Major, with seniority from 1st April, 1950. Dated
23rd May, 1951.

Hon. Captain (Bandmaster) C. H. Hoskin, M.B.E., V.D., 1st
Battalion, is posted to the Retired List. Dated 24th April, 1951.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette
No. 36, dated 3rd May, 1951, relative to the appointment
of James Richard Milton Barker as 2nd Lieutenant, for “ Dated
7th February, 1951 ” substitute “ Dated 30th September, 1950 ”.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment—

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette
No. 36, dated 3rd May, 1951, relative to temp. Lieutenant
L. M. Lyons, for “ with seniority from 12th October, 1950 ” substitute
“ with seniority from 12th October, 1945 ”.

The Otago and Southland Regiment—

Major D. L. Wood, M.C., from the Reserve of Officers, Regi-
mental List, The Otago and Southland Regiment, to be Major, with
seniority from 18th May, 1948, and is seconded to the 3rd Infantry
Brigade for duty as Brigade Major. Dated 13th March, 1951. The
notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, dated 3rd May,
1951, under the heading “ 3rd Infantry Brigade ” relative to Major
D. L. Wood, M.C., is hereby cancelled.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS

Territorial Force—

Major W. J. Boyd, M.B., Ch.B., is appointed Deputy Assistant
Director of Medical Services, Headquarters N.Z. Division in addition
to his present appointment of R.M.O., 1st Battalion, The Wellington
West Coast and Taranaki Regiment. Dated 1st May, 1951.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) C. N. D. Taylor, M.B., Ch.B., from
the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Captain, with
seniority from 6th April, 1950, and is appointed Deputy Assistant
Director of Army Health, Headquarters N.Z. Division. Dated 1st
May, 1951.

1st Casualty Clearing Station, R.N.Z.A.M.C.—

Lieutenant-Colonel S. L. Wilson, D.S.O., M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S.
(Eng.), F.R.A.C.S., relinquishes the appointment of O.C., 1st Casualty
Clearing Station, R.N.Z.A.M.C., and is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, with the
rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 19th May, 1951.

Major E. O. Dawson, M.B., Ch.B., is appointed O.C. (temp-
orarily), 1st Casualty Clearing Station, R.N.Z.A.M.C., and is granted
the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel whilst so employed.
Dated 20th May, 1951.

2nd Field Hygiene Section, R.N.Z.A.M.C.—

Captain G. W. Key to be Major (non-medical). Dated 16th
May, 1951.
